I haven't had much time but I still managed to visit lovely Magpie. If only I had more time to try all these amazing wellingtons! The shop itself has great atmosphere and you can find there just everything you'd need on the Isle of Skye. From mentioned wellingtons, tools for camping and maps to home decorations, soaps and clothing.

I have just returned from the Isle of Skye and found a little gem of a shop in Broadford, called Magpie (apparently it used to be called Walkers and Wellies, but the owner told me she had recently rebranded as the name didn't really fit their image any more). It is a veritable treasure chest! We went in to see if they had some wellies for what turned out to be a rather wet week, and boy did they! I could've had flowery wellies, tweed wellies, spotty wellies, plain old green wellies, fur lined wellies!! I eventually decided to splurge on a pair of black Hunter wellies... if they are good enough for Kate Moss....

Anyway welly shopping aside they have a fantastic selection of wet weather gear, hiking socks, boots, camping gear, walking books and maps of the highlands.

But what amazed me the most was the fantastic selection of housey things and gifts. They have divine lamps, woolen "bothy" throws in soft tartans, cushions, furniture, candles, mirrors and other bits and pieces. There is a lot of shabby chic pieces which I just absolutely adored, including gorgeous limed oak style console tables that my boyfriend assured me that we couldn't fit in the car... but we did! I was really taken by surprise by this shop, which mixes wellies with French style furniture, hiking boots with silk cushions, camping gear with beautifully packaged soaps and makes it work!

Trust me you will not regret popping in, though your purse might!
