“Well appointed house in stunning location.”
Reviewed 10 April 2018 for a stay in March 2018

We had stayed at Camus Cross before so were prepared for the amazing views from the cottage but our son had not, so we were able to fully appreciate this superb location through new eyes. Make no mistake this is a very special location.
The house is clean and well appointed and has two double and one single bedrooms. As it was quite cold we were able to take advantage of the real fire which is set in the wall. Friends have already enquired about where I was staying following my Facebook posts. The hotel is a pleasant 1mile stroll away and has a lovely wood panelled bar next door which serves excellent food, beer and a selection of whiskies and gins. Not cheap but very atmospheric. We had unusually fantastic weather and with snow on the mountains Skye was breath taking. A perfect getaway.

“Perfect location for family stay on Skye”

We came to Skye and Cruard Cottage with my parents-in-law, our toddler (who is just under two years old), and a very energetic and happy dog. We had seen the photos but were still blown away when we walked into the cottage. Like another reviewer mentioned, the cottage looks very traditional from the outside and has a modern edge on the inside. It feels roomy and cozy at the same time - very welcoming.

The kitchen is wonderfully open and well stocked with cooking pots, pans, and utensils. There is a very large fridge/freezer so you can more than hold your weeks supply of food and cook on the wonderful Rayburn cooker. The dishwasher and washing machine are large and simple to operate.

The living area is wonderfully comfortable with a nice fireplace centrally located. The single bedroom was a sanctuary for our son. He loved it so much he refused to sleep in the travel cot we brought for him, instead spending every nap and night on the lovely single bed (for the first time!). The upstairs double bedrooms both have very comfortable beds and perfect views across to the mainland. The windows are situated in just such a way so you can lay in bed and watch the sun rise if you so desire. There are even skylights throughout the entire second floor, bringing lots of natural light and air into the rooms.

The cottage was more than we ever thought was possible in a holiday let. The beach out front was a favourite for our son and dog - both running and chasing stones and sticks. Location wise, we took multiple day trips all around the island and always made it back in time to make supper - even from a trip to the Trotternish as well as a trip over to Glenelg (on the mainland side) via the amazing Kylerhea ferry.

We were very fortunate to have perfect weather (!) but believe that this cottage would be brilliant in anytime of year. If we come back to Skye for holiday, we will try to stay here at Cruard again. I seriously cannot rate Cruard highly enough.

We opted to take the ferry from Mallaig onto Skye as it very conveniently dropped us off about 8 miles from the cottage, leaving the windthrough Glen Shiel for our drive off the island.

“Great accommodation & location/views”
Reviewed 30 June 2013 for a stay in March 2012

Traditional looking property from the outside but modern inside. Very good standard of accommodation & facilities. Clean, fresh, light, airy. Fantastic location, good garden, overlooks the water, outhouse with a boat that can be used by guests. Takes dogs, great.
Very well maintained property, with all you that you will need. The beds are very comfy.
One thing you need if your holidaying in rural Scotland is a high standard of accommodation with good facilities & great views, particularly if the weather is poor. In a property like this you can tolerate bad weather.
