“Beautiful Cottage by the Sea :)”
Reviewed 28 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We have just arrived home from the Anchorage. A beautifully decorated cottage that has a real homely feeling. It is very easy to find and is a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye! The views from the cottage are amazing! We could have stayed in the sun room all day watching the boats go by and taking photos of the wildlife right on our doorstep! We had one good day with no rain! And then it rained non stop! So we made good use of the log burner in the evenings after exploring...making it feel very warm and cosy! :) The Aga made it feel very warm in the mornings while having some coffee from the cool nespresso machine in the kitchen! Friendly neighbours took time to ask us how our stay was. We had no problems throughout our stay at the cottage and hope to visit again in the summer (maybe with some sunshine) :)

This is a lovely cottage with a superb standard in everything. The owner is very attentive and was so considerate when there was a problem in the house. .We enjoyed our stay so much that we are now booked for next year

“A week of relaxation”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Having rented many holiday properties over the years the Anchorage is at the top of our list. The views are stunning from each aspect of the property, the comfort and ambience perfect. We saw seals and otters on our first morning from the kitchen window, which made a perfect start to our week.
The island keeps on giving wherever you travel and returning to the Anchorage for the evening made the day just perfect.

“Should really be kept a secret...”
Reviewed 11 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

From the moment I arrived I fell in love with this beautiful cottage. Peaceful and private, tucked away at the end of a short road, it was the perfect setting for a relaxing break and a great base from which to explore the Isle of Skye. With stunning views out across the water I was treated most mornings to some stunning sunrises and privileged to see seals, dolphins and porpoises...and yes, I did see an otter too! Staying at The Anchorage was literally like staying in someone's home, everything you need is there. Loved the Aga, walking into the kitchen in a morning and feeling the warmth, making a fresh coffee and staring out the window at the seal who always seemed to be staring right back at me. Really enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay again.

“Truly a place to sit back and unwind”
Reviewed 3 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed for the week commencing 4/9/15, its our 4th visit, we love it its everything you could wish for if your looking for a base to tour the surrounding area, lovely accommodation, terrific views from the seating area on the rocks at the bottom of the garden, and the conservatory is perfect to watch the world go by.

The weather for us was fantastic all week an added bonus.

Just a couple of hiccups during our stay, who needs a dish washer, when you have a view to die for out of the window as you wash the pots, and the central heating boiler which we did not need as it happened developed a fault but Richard was straight on the case to sort them out for us.

If your into scallops you can buy them at Island Divers in Kyle, you can pick them up fresh from the sea, they are the best we have ever had, cooked on the arga in butter, with crusty bread and a good white wine.

Well be back next year for another stay.

John.

“Great location and property, a few minor problems with facilities”
Reviewed 6 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The location is everything the details promise. Big windows with excellent views. The furnishings are comfortable, not at all crowded and spotlessly clean. Good supply of books and utensils. Comprehensive instructions and suggestions were provided.

Car parking problematic with two cars but no problems free parking 100 metres or so on pier.

Some minor problems, without which we might have scored it higher: garden very untidy with tall grass that was very wet; dishwasher was marked as 'out of order' and hot water boiler stopped working half-way through our stay (but immersion heater was effective substitute.) The Aga gave off very strong oil fumes at times, possibly due to high winds.

Overall, though, we highly recommend it for up to four adults, plus perhaps two children in bunk beds in same bedroom as double bed.

Management Response
26 Sep 2015
Hi - I'm glad you had a good time and thanks for your recommendation. But I think you must have been jinxed! I can confirm that we now have a new gardener who does look after the garden perfectly, but I'm sorry if the grass was wet. Maybe it rained??:) We have also replaced the dishwasher with a brand new one and I'm sorry this could not be arrange to be delivered during your stay. Re the boiler and Aga, we had this professionally checked out and it turned out to be an airlock in the oil supply pipe - all sorted now and running perfectly. I'm only sorry these things happened during your stay. They always come in threes it seems and thanks so much for your understanding. Kind regards, Richard.

“Great cottage, amazing location!”
Reviewed 14 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had such a fantastic holiday at The Anchorage. The accommodation was as described, with views to die for! Washing up and watching the seal at the same time - it doesn't get much better. The cottage was well-equipped and very warm and Kyleakin had all basics available in the local shop. We loved Harry's Cafe - great cake and very friendly, helpful people.
