“Excellent, a family friendly hotel.”
Reviewed 2 August 2011

We stayed at The White Heather Hotel with our two children aged 4 and 6. The family room was remarkably clean and comfortable, with a bathroom somehow out of date but clean.
The landlady is friendly, a very kind and helpful person who makes things easy.
The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Kyleakin, at a walking distance from the town's restaurants, and by the bridge, the main route to Skye.
Without doubts, it is a perfect stop in your visit to Scotland.

My daughter and I had a 6 day whistle stop tour of the Highlands, this Hotel was the best establishment we stayed in, and by a big margin. Room was clean, and very comfortable, we were made to feel welcome, and the breakfast was excellent. The owners run a very tight ship with everything well organised and of high quality throughout, but it always felt relaxed. We couldn't speak to highly and would recommend the hotel to anyone. Well done and keep up the good work.

We stayed for two nights during our tour round Scotland, had a lovely welcome from Gillian. Lots of information of the Island and things to do in the two lounges, computer for guests to use internet, washing machine, kitchenette all available. Room was nice, bathroom spacious, we had a room overlooking the harbour and castle so lovely views. Plenty of choice for breakfast, all nicely laid out. Would defintely recommend this B&B if you're visiting the Island.

The White Heather is very convenient. Right at the beginning of Skye. We were able to explore the island and go back to do things in Plockton and Kyle. Gillian and Craig are friendly, organized and very helpful. Gillian has laminated hotel tips and tour advise in each room that you can carry with you for the day. Full Scottish breakfast, internet access and a beautiful view from the breakfast room. The power shower was nice and if you take advantage of the opportunity to do laundry just ask Gillian about the heated drying rack. We would love to go back!

Our room was fine with a view over the harbour and castle which was great, though our friends were in the back with no view at all and a room that was a bit claustrophobic.
We were made very welcome and it was nice having the lounge areas to relax in.
Breakfast was excellent, though it was a little odd having to order it the night before.
Everything worked and we were very comfortable. We were given every assistance in booking restaurants and cabs. We had a lovely meal in Kyle and the Indian meal near the bridge was good. The bus service to Portree was reliable.
We left early but we were given an excellent packed breakfast to takle with us.

The Innkeeper here, Gillian, is extremely gracious and helpful. We were celebrating both a significant birthday and anniversary on this trip and she did a very nice job of recognizing that. We wanted a centralized location to Inverewe Gardens, Portree, Dunvegan Castle and Gardens and the Sleat Penninsula. The White Heather Hotel served this purpose perfectly.

The rates are very attractive and make for a good value. As noted in a few other reviews the rooms here are on the small-ish side. But the location on the peaceful harbor helps make up for that.
