“Fantastic Property”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Thankyou Gillian & Craig for a wonderful stay. Gillian could not have made us more welcome. Also providing us with the opportunity to use the washing machine & dryer after 10 days of travelling in the rain. They are the most hospitable couple. The property is just wonderful and a close walk to the township of Kyleakin to the local pub for a terrific dinner. Breakfast was cooked by Craig as was excellent. We would recommend this property to anyone travelling to the Isle of Skye. The rooms are very comfortable and clean

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. All are quiet as quiet end of town overlooking harbour.

My stay started with a warm and hearty welcome by Gillian. You really can tell that she likes what she's doing. She's the perfect host. My room was very comfortable and I had a great view to the harbour. There was a kitchenette with all the equipment you could wish and there was also an opportunity to dry my clothes.
The hotel is situated at the harbour and has a great view to the Castle Moil. The breakfast was excellent.

Three of us spent four nights at this beautiful B&B on gorgeous Skye - the proprietors, Gillian and Craig couldn't be more helpful or more welcoming - my room looked out on the lovely harbour and I woke up to this view every morning - a wonderful start to the day. The breakfasts are terrific and being vegetarian, I particularly appreciated the inclusion of veggie sausages, which were delicious. Gillian is very helpful with suggestions on what to see and do on Skye and we had many terrific adventures as a result. We would all stay here again and I hope it's not too long before I can make it back to this amazing island. I understand they are enlarging a couple of the rooms over the winter, although for a single person, they were just great as is.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the harbour

I went to Skye at the start of the Season and stayed in room 4, which was absolutely stunning when i looked out the window the view was so picturesque, looking onto the Sea, The room had a double bed which was so comfy, the toilet was so modern and spotless. I am vegetarian which was not a problem, i didn't take the cooked veggie breakfast, there was plenty of choice and nothing was to much trouble. I would definitely stay her again if i was going back to Kyleakin in Skye. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation in the Kyleakin area.

The greeting of our host was very welcoming and friendly, she gave us a few tips for dinner options that night. However, the room we got was absolutely tiny compared to other places we had been before. The bathroom was a small dark wooden-clad room with no natural light that wasn't very comfortable. Apart from that the breakfast was delightful and the view on the small harbour of Kyleakin as well as on the Skye Bridge spectacular.

As written elsewhere Kyleakin as a tour base for Skye is not necessarily first choice, whereas this Hotel (or B&B depending on your views) may well serve as your first step on the island. Already before arriving Gillian is an host you could contact for all information and advice you may need. On arrival she makes you feel home and the two lounges give you a fair choice of TV or quiet. The room offered nice views of the harbour and was functional, the bathroom worked but tended to be a bit dark. If darkened pine there all over is really the choice of interior design could be well questioned (and has been in other reviews). The WLAN in my room worked well and the breakfast was definitely a highlight of the day and kept you well going. If you travel by public transport on the isle or if you connect from Kyle of Lochalsh train station by bus, the bus stop close by makes life easy (just a couple of steps). Enjoyable and good value for money.

Room Tip: A small kitchenette with a fridge is at your disposal (separate from the rooms) .
