What an amazing place visited a few years back as had fond memories of playing guitar in the garden till thon time in a beautiful part of Skye. The hostel has changed ownership and the place is spotless, more like a hotel than a hostel but with a lovely laid back atmosphere. The wee Jedi Huts in the huge garden are fantastic to stay for a cosy night for two with fairy lights in the rafters and a warm stove or you can sit outside and look at the stars. Theres a big glass dome to sit in too if midgies bother you. But hey shh dont tell everybody we want to go back next year and the next....

Hostel owners around the globe should take field trips to Skyewalker Hostel to learn from these people. This is how it's done, folks!
I stayed here with a friend for four nights and was so surprised to learn that most other guests were only there for one night or so - what a shame. We felt that four nights was really still to short to explore the island and even the area just around the hostel is so beautiful.

Anyway, Georgia who checked us in was super nice, showed us around the place and gave dozens of helpful tips for dining and walking. The rooms, and pretty much everything else including the bathrooms, were spotless at all times! Seriously, I have never seen a cleaner hostel. It's great because all of the efforts made by the staff also encourage guests to keep things clean, like there's a mop in the shower and guests are asked to wash AND dry their dishes. Aside from the cleanliness, the hostel also offered more comfort (dare I say luxury?) than any other place I have seen. Rain showers, are you kidding me? And there was a desk in our dorm!

The fact that there is no wifi (and really bad mobile reception) really adds to a sociable atmosphere. The common area has books, magazines and games to play. In the big garden, there is a giant chess board and a fun glass dome. Like I mentioned before, the area around the hostel is beautiful and worth exploring on foot for a few hours, even if not many guests do so.

I recommend coming by car - we were apprehensive at first but driving on the island turned out to be pretty easy, but even if you don't drive I think this place is still worth visiting.

The walls around the reception area are covered with information about Skye attractions and nearby dining options, so you won't get bored. There is one pub walking distance from the hostel. It's good for a quick bite when you don't want to cook, but the menu is really very limited. There is a better pub in Carbost (where the Talisker distillery is), about a five-minute drive, that has a good menu and wifi, but gets rather crowded around dinner time. The hostel does have a beautiful and well-equipped kitchen!

As for the room itself, we stayed in an eight-bed dorm at the front of the building. Like everything else, the room was very clean and the linen and bedding we got was good quality. The only thing I think could possible improve in this place, is maybe there could be more power sockets. I always like to have a socket near my bed to charge my phone at night.. but really this is such a minor issue compared to all the great things about this hostel.

Loved this place, would recommend and will likely come back!

Room Tip: We were in a dorm (which was good) but those new Jedi huts they had in the garden looked great!

Stayed one night in private room with two bunk beds. Rooms small but adequate and there are shelves to put your cases or bags on to free up floor space.

The whole place is immaculately clean and looked newly painted and well cared for.

The staff we met were very friendly and helpful, showing us around when we first got there.

Good sized kitchen with everything you require plus free tea/coffee/sugar. Also lovely home made cake with an honesty box should you require a treat!

No wifi or tv so a bit of a challenge for my young teenage son but it didn't do him any harm to be separated from his ipad for a day!!

Pub within walking distance for dinner which was handy.

Would definitely recommend staying here.

I have just spent one night at the Skywalker Hostel and cannot recommend this hostel enough. The lady on reception unfortunately I didn't get her name) was extremely helpful, giving us a tour of the place explaining where everything was on our arrival. There were 3 of us in our party and we had 2 rooms containing bunk beds. These were comfortable and bedding was provided. The rooms also had radiators and a plug, so charging up phones, ipads etc not a problem. The kitchen and lounge areas were spotless as were the toilet and shower facilities. In fact I think they may have been newly painted. The exterior of the hostel is very well kept with lovely hanging baskets outside. All in all a very good place to stay, but I should imagine that booking well in advance is recommended. There is no wifi connection, so if you are looking for somewhere to block out the outside world then Skyewalker is the place for you.

Spent 2 Nights at the Skyewalker with my wife and our little one called Skye. ( Other family and friends as too ). We hadn't been to Skye or even stayed in a hostel before. The hostel was so clean and the facilities were like home from home. The outdoor space was great for Skye who spent most of the stay out the back. Infact it was hard to get her to leave to go exploring the Isle!!!! Brian, Lisa and all the staff couldn't do enough for you and were always on hand to help or answer questions with a smile. Such a chilled out place. We are planning a return trip sometime soon and the only place to stay for us will be the Skyewalker.

Thanks for a great stay guys and laying on the fantastic weather !!!

An excellent hostel with really helpful and friendly staff. Stayed for 3 nights in a private twin room ( bunkbeds) which was clean and commfortable but not much floor space for luggage etc. kitchen and bathroom facilities were both great. A good budget option for Skye and would return without hesitation!
