“Friendly B&B in a quiet area”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

We stayed with Bob and Norma for 4 nights in May and had the spacious double room on the ground floor with the wonderful bathroom (big bath tub - heaven when you get soaked twice a day!). Everything was spotless clean, the breakfast very good and our hosts very nice and helpful. Bob has a good humor and provided us with tips and suggestions for our day trips. He picked us up from the bus stop at the square when we arrived and gave us a lift back when we left (we were walking with backpacks and using public transport). We also really enjoyed the walk from and to Portree, no bother at all! "Bruach na frithe" will be our first choice again when we'll be back to Skye! Thank you, Bob and Norma!

We spent two nights here and we absolutely loved it! Bob and Norma were so welcoming and authentic so that we really felt like home. My parents had the large double room with the large bathroom with bath tube and me and my brother the smaller but also comfy double downstairs.
Everything was very, very clean and the beds a heaven! Even the breakfast was rich at options, not only the Standard Scottish Breakfast but also much other choices.
If you go the Skye, Portree is also the best location to start your trip to Trotternish area!
We definately come back.

We stayed two nights, excellent location for touring Skye. It is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Portree, uphill all the way back! Bob and Norma were excellent hosts and Bob gave invaluable information on where to go to make the most of our time in Skye. We had a wonderful time sightseeing and the weather was perfect! The B and B is excellent, everything you could want and more. Breakfast delicious and they also offer free wi fi.

Stayed here for 2 nights while on Skye. Good location, about 2 minutes drive out of town. Large rooms and nice facilities. Bob and Norma make you feel welcome. Bob is happy to share his suggestions, which turned out just right. Great place to base your touring of Skye. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay on Skye.

I stayed for five nights in October 2012, on a walking and photography holiday. The room was large, comfortable and had a great view south to the Cuillin. Everywhere was spotless, the very full breakfast was an excellent start to my days, and Bob was friendly and a mine of useful information about Skye. Excellent value for money and I would recommend it unhesitatingly.

Great place to stay! Our room was very clean, comfortable and large--with enough floor space for morning yoga. Spacious bath with great tub and lots of hot water.

Very close to town by car, but quiet and private which was a big plus after spending the day tramping around in Skye weather. (Can walk ot town)

Portree is very busy in season and it was nice to get away from the crowds and have some privacy. The huge room (1st floor) and bath more than made up for not having a harbor view in town. Also loved the easy, off street parking. Not having to fight for a spot (another problem in town) was another big plus for us.

Bob and Norma were wonderful hosts who helped us make the most of the area. They booked us in at a wonderful Portree restaurant.. Also gave us a map, good suggestions for drives and lunch. They even dried our wet boots and cooked an excellent breakfast. Good internet connection, too.

All of Portree was booked, it seemed. Lucky for us, a B&B tenant had to depart early and this one room opened up and we happened to be the first to drive by the "vacancy" sign. (They said we were their first "walk-in" in three years!) Price range was in the scope of all our other rooms with en suite bathroom. The very large room was one of our top two favorites in Scotland. It was stunningly attractive, convenient and comfortable. The en suite had a big soaking tub as well as shower. The owners were delightful. See the rooms on their website: http://www.bruach-na-frithe.co.uk/. The home was situated up a private lane with lots of trees and landscaping.

In addition to the great lodging and breakfast, the owners, Norma and Bob printed off a tourist guide for us that included directions to the tops sights. Bob also supplied us with binoculars and spray for "midges". The spray must have worked as we had no bites. Norma graciously let me use her hair appliance, and promply supplied extra bedding when we asked. They treated us like good friends.
