“High expectations”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

We arrived for our 5 nights on Skye with high expectations after having read reviews of Westwards and Morag. Westwards is located in a rural setting overlooking a wonderful garden with a group of aerogenerators visible on a far distant ridge. The comfortable front bedroom which we occupied, the spacious guest lounge and the breakfast room all face this view. The grand breakfast which was standard at all the Scottish b & bs which we frequented was highlighted daily at Westwards by a freshly-prepared fruit salad.
We were the beneficiaries of the local knowledge of our Skye native hosts, Morag and Donald. After a walk in the hills, we enjoyed lunch at a tiny tea-room in Morag's hometown. We gained some insights into the status and role of the Gaelic language on Skye.
After 5 nights we moved reluctantly on, feeling that our expectations had been exceeded and that we had made friends with whom we hope to cross paths again.

We were looking forwards to returning to Westwards to share 'our find' with my parents and we were not disappointed! It was great to go back and know that as soon as you pull up the drive you are sharing the most wonderful home and surroundings! The rooms are immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and furnished - a real credit to Morag and Donald, and they are equipped with all of those little extras that are so appreciated. Breakfasts were a pleasure and a real bonus is the use of the lounge which has amazing views over the landscaped garden and countryside - from which you can sit and watch the local wildlife. It's a truly relaxing home in which Morag and Donald make you feel part of their family whilst you're there! I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast, and cannot wait for 'next time'!

Westwards is a beautiful property, with modern decor finished to a high standard. Everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained with lovely ornaments to set off each room perfectly. Breakfast was delicious and the view from the breakfast room was lovely. Morag is an ideal hostess - she is friendly and helpful but knows exactly when to leave you to have your own space. On our arrival she made us a pot of tea and we felt at home straight away. She recommended the Cosy Little Tea Rooms which were delightful. We would definitely stay again as the rates are very reasonable too.

We arrived very late but the kind lady was waiting and prepare hot tea for us. The breakfast is nice. We sat at the window to watch the field. The heater has some problem the next night but it's not big deal because we knew after we told the lady she will fix it as soon as she can to make sure make every guest guest feels good.

Although Morag was tending her beautiful grounds and garden, she dropped everything to warmly welcome us with coffee and treats. It was such a beautiful day that she encouraged us to tour Skye by car and we did.
On our return,Morag was there to great us How kind a lady she is.
Our room is perfect with a huge bath. We regret only staying one evening at this great B&B but encourage other travelers to say here, only a short distance from town! Everything was well beyond our expectations

Great place with a great host. The last day we had to leave very early (around 6 AM) and Morag got up early to make us breakfast, even after we told her just to leave something on the table the night before. Very nice surroundings, great views, clean and comfy rooms with warm and clean bathrooms. Leaflets and brochures about Skye, interesing conversation and advice from Morag where to go and what to do, great breakfast, a parking place for our car, large TV's in rooms and a living room with a fireplace. Everything has already been said, I can just say a very big thanks to Morag.

We stayed here last month for two nights as part of our 3-week road trip through Scotland. It was a lovely place. We met some really nice people in all the B&Bs we stayed in, but Morag really stands out in my memory. She was so warm, and SO accommodating and even did our laundry and hung it on a line to dry!! (We didn't even ask her. She seemed to want to do this for us, and we were pretty desperate to do some laundry by that point.) The room was clean and comfortable. The countryside surrounding the house is gorgeous. It's about 10 minutes to drive into Portree. Thanks again, Morag.
