“Return to a little bit of heaven!”
Reviewed 21 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Skyehaven
We first stayed at Taigh na h-aibhne ( Skyehaven), in November 2002 and loved it so much we were determined to go back one day. This year we did.
There is always a bit of apprehension about going back to a place that was so memorable, but we needn't have worried. It was all just as perfect as the last time, and the weather was even better!
This property has been built to such a high standard, and yet is so comfortable and homely. All mod cons, in a place of family history. Even a heated bathroom mirror. I want one of those!
Margaret, whom we have not yet met, is a very thoughtful host. Candles, flowers and wine greeted us on arrival both times. We explored Skye, making Taigh na h-aibhne our base, and it was always good to come home.
The kitchen is a wonder. Is there a single gadget that you can't find?
We enjoyed seeing how the garden has matured, and is visited by chaffinches, sparrows, etc. we even caught a glimpse of a pair of Sea Eagles, high in the sky. The setting is perfect. Most days, we spent hours, reading our books, listening to music, playing scrabble, and always, just on the other side of the huge plate glass window/wall, was the view. The sky kept on changing as the light changed, and we never tired of gazing out at the hills in the distance and the little stream, just yards away.
If you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in a superb location, Taigh na h-aibhne is the place!

“Fabulous accommodation in a wonderful location”
Reviewed 15 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

For our first ever visit to Skye I really don't think we could have found better accommodation in a better location! The cottage was very comfortable (and warm!) and equipped with eveything you could possibly need for a family holiday. The views are stunning and our kids loved filling the feeders and watching all the birds. Located a few miles outside Portree, the location was superb for exploring the island. Margaret, the owner, was so welcoming and helpful and there was plenty of literature in the cottage with ideas of places to visit, walks to do and restaurants to try. We all agreed it was one of the best holidays we've had and it was a real wrench to leave Skyehaven!

“Second visit, still fab”
Reviewed 14 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Back again after a great week in October. We've been going to cottages in the highlands for around 15 years and this is the first one we've ever come back to the same one twice. The cottage has everything you could need and makes for a very relaxing break. See review 28 October for more details. Margaret, the owner, is a star.
