“Great location and friendly owners, but in need of thorough cleaning and some TLC.”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We stayed in this B&B for two days in July 2014. The B&B has stunning views of the harbor and is located within short walking distance of downtown. The owners are delightful--very friendly and excellent cooks (breakfast was amazing). The rooms, however, were a mixed bag. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable with clean linens and comfortable pillows, but the furnishings were a bit run down. Sadly, the bathrooms were filthy. The sink had mold around the faucets, and there was hair on the faucet and in the drain. The shower was also dirty with mold on the frame and floor. Worse, there was dirt caked around the baseboards and in the corners of the bathroom.

If the owners took some time to thoroughly clean this B&B, it would be fantastic.

Hosted by the lovely Fiona & Robbie, my stay in Portree's Pink Guest House could not have been more enjoyable. The accommodations are very comfortable and conveniently located. Definitely recommended!

First, this B&B is right on the pier so you have a great view. Second, it's within walking distance of the town center (no need for cab/car). Third it's comfortable. Forth it's clean. Fifth the manager is super friendly and chill. Sixth, the breakfast is good and filling.

A reference about me. I travel for work and stay in MANY hotels. I'm pretty picky about where I sleep. This place makes the grade and I would sleep there again

Arriving in Portree for a friends wedding, we decided to stay at the Pink Guest House as locationally, it was on the harbour front and a stones throw from the wedding venue that we were going to. Free parking was right outside so that was excellent. The couple who own this place (Fiona & Robbie) were really friendly and helpful and checked us in without an issue. Our room was on the ground floor with a large window facing out onto the road / waterfront. The room / ensuite were both fine and Hubby enjoyed sitting on the windowsill watching foreign tourists wander by....every now and then someone would stop and look in as if it were a shop window and he would smile back at them! Maybe some net curtains would be an idea for extra privacy without having to close the curtains. Breakfast was brilliant and cooked to perfection. Again, Robbie and Fiona were perfect hosts offering more tea and toast. We slept well and enjoyed our stay at the Pink. We would stay again as it was worth the money. Thanks.

We have just returned from a trip to the Isle of Sky during which we stayed at this excellent guest house. We were fortunate enough to be given a room at the front of the guest house which overlooked Portree harbor.

The hosts were excellent, in fact they moved their car to enable us to park on our arrival.

Our room was very large, had one double and three single beds in it, it was clean and fresh towels were left each day.

The breakfasts were very good with a nice choice, my partner asked for something not on the menu and it was no problem for them.

If I return to Sky this will be the place we will wish to stay.

Room Tip: A room at the front would give the best views for when you wake up in the morning.

We had 4 rooms in this B&B located at the harbour front. It was an uphill walk to go anywhere. There were traffic and pedestrian noises all night in the two rooms on the main floor with the entry directly from the road. The 3rd floor room was large enough only for a bed, there was no other furniture, no place to put our suitcases and we had to turn sideways to pass each other. We could hear every sound from the stairs, hall and room beside us.There was only a skylight that did not open so there was no relief from the heat. The room off of the breakfast area was the best, with the most space and only noisy when people started to arrive to eat in the morning. The breakfast was good - typical Scottish B&B menu. The hosts were friendly and helpful. In our 10 days in the country this was the most expensive location and our least favorite.

Room Tip: Do not take a room on the top floor - too hot! Rooms off the road are noisy and one has a sloped low...

This B & B is in a good location right on the harbor. The young couple who run the place are lovely and very helpful. If you are lucky enough to get a harbor view, that is great. I don't understand the comments on the size of the rooms. They are surely adequate, especially compared with the size of other rooms in which I've stayed. I got a room on the top floor in there back -- the room backs onto a lush green hill. I thought this was marvelous -- lovely birdsong and quiet (no harbor noise) -- but, the room was too close to the greenery on the side of the hill and insects of all sorts got into the room (including a very large and ugly beetle ... and there were a number of spiders in the sink). I could not have a midge-less night unless the window was closed, which in June was a disappointment as it got a bit stuffy overnight. The walls are a bit thin (I could hear the neighbor's TV and then snoring into the night). Breakfast is adequate -- arrangement of dried cereals, yogurt and dried fruits and a lovely cooked breakfast. Next time, I might try one of the B & B's up the hill.

Room Tip: High floor on the front of the building.
