Cuan Beag is just superb. It is clean, well equipped, warm and inviting. Our first evening we were treated to a seal display, it was lovely to see them playing in the loch. The view from the lounge is beautiful even on a wet and windy afternoon, with the fire roaring, a glass of wine and a good film on the tv.
It is a great base for touring the island, a day sight seeing was topped off by returning back to Cuan Beag.
Jenny was a super host, easy to contact if we had any problems, glad to say there were none!
We wanted a relaxing holiday, no stress, a chance to see Skye but the main thing was to chill out and do as little as possible in comfortable surroundings, to watch the sun rise over the loch snuggled in front of the fire, it was heaven. Loved the TV, Jenny has a good selection of DVDs and we did take a few of our own to watch.
As you make your way to Cuan Beag you will come through Portree, there is a CO-OP just on the island with a large car park, and for fresh baked bread, Pies and cakes there is a little shop in Dunvegan opposite the Old School House restaurant. We did have 2 evening meals at the School house, you do need to book, excellent meals both times. We also had lunch at Edinbane Inn, which was very nice.
Many thanks Jenny for making Cuan Beag such a super place to stay.
We spent a week here, just as ex-Ophelia was blowing through Scotland so the weather was not ideal! However we were more than happy staying indoors in this lovely location with great views across the loch.
The home was super-clean, and had everything we needed including useful information, a well-equipped kitchen and laundry, plus entertainment and speedy WiFi
Lots of wildlife including otters, curlews, seals and sea eagles. We counted over 30 species of bird, most of which we could see from an armchair!
Beautiful house in an amazing location on the loch. 10 minute drive north of Portree, so great location to explore Skye. We loved the owner's attention to detail, they provided lots of info, walking guides, maps etc. that came in handy. Binoculars for seal watching are a great addition (take an extra pair as you'll be fighting over them). Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The property was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We can't wait to come back!
We had a wonderful week at Cuan Beag. The location is great for touring the island and being only 15 minutes from Portree makes shopping easy. Although the cottage is only a few minutes away from the main road, it is very tranquil right down by the shores of the Loch Treaslane and the views from the living room extension are great, even on a rainy day. It is really well-equipped with everything you might need from guide books and games to a built-in espresso coffee machine. The three bedrooms are a reasonable size and, although we were there just as a couple, with three bathrooms (2 ensuite), it would be fine for 6 people. Underfloor heating makes it very cosy and the open-plan living area is stylish and comfortable. Communication with Jenny was great and we will definitely return to Cuan Beag if we go back to Skye.
