Just returned from an overnight trip to Skye were we stayed at the beautiful Duisdale Hotel. From our arrival to our departure the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The hotel is beautifully situated in immaculate grounds with the most stunning views from every front facing or side facing window. Our bedroom was very tastefully decorated,in fact the hotel is finished to an exceptionally high standard and the decor and furnishing look expensive and modern. We had booked in for the 5 course tasting menu which was delicious from the starter to the dessert,my only regret is we should have booked our table earlier as we were still eating at 10.30 and felt full going to bed. It is so peaceful that we kept the windows open all night and the only sound was the birds chirping in a nest in the hotels eves....delightful. My only niggle was that the room was unbearably hot but a small fan was provided which after being plugged in cooled the room down to a comfortable temperature. The guests have access to a beautiful stone beach across from the hotel which we walked down to after our delicious breakfast. It is quiet and secluded with stunning views. I would definitely recommend this luxury hotel for a special occasion,as it is pricey but well worth a visit.

What a joke for that kind of money the room was tiny and so hot!!!!! Definitely would not recommend this to anyone. .... The room was the size of a toilet cubicle... to put it into perspective we had to leave one suit case in the car because we couldn't fit it in the room....

This hotel is clean and the staff were friendly, but is was not worth the money that we paid. We had deliberately requested a superior room with a walk in shower.what we got was a shower cubicle that was ridiculously small. You would be lucky to be able to bend down if you dropped the soap. The room was also too small for that price.

There were so many positives about Duisdale House but also a few things with which we were a little bit disappointed.
It is a beautiful building with a little pathway to the loch across the road where I almost felt I was in my idea of heaven. We had a lovely bedroom although it was quite dark. The bathroom was huge with a lovely corner bath and fabulous toiletries. We were on a holiday that was not cheap (spending our children's inheritance!) and the room overlooked the side of the house and was above the kitchen so it was quite noisy. I would have hoped for a better view than that!
The staff were delightful especially the young waiting staff. Not always perfect but their willingness and personalities made up for that. The food was very good with beautiful vegetarian food which was much appreciated. We loved the breakfast choice. Would definitely want to stay again but in a room with a better view.

We stayed for 2 nights in July 2014 in the Garden Suite, which is a separate building behind the main hotel. The suite is fabulous - one main master bedroom which is large enough for a sitting area also, and a separate 2 twin bedroom. The other great detail was in addition to a beautiful stand alone bath, it had a wet shower room with a heated floor. Quite a treat for the kids. The linens, mattress and décor were all excellent in the suite.

The food in the restaurant is beautifully presented and prepared; the service from the staff friendly and unobtrusive - well instructed clearly. The included breakfast was excellent.
The setting of the hotel gives great views over the Sound of Sleat, and has a small hike up to a great viewing area, and a separate walk down to the shoreline.
The gardens are extensive, well maintained and beautiful to walk around.
We shall certainly return.

Duisdale is in a lovely setting overlooking the Sound of Sleat. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. We did ask for a quiet room which may be why we were at the back o f e hotel with no view but the room was very comfortable with a large bathroom with lots of hot water for baths and showers. The decor was a bit dark for our taste but it was obviously recently done and was immaculate. We chose the Fine Dining menu and it was really excellent, with every course delicious and beautifully presented. It was not a cheap option but it was worth every penny. Our only quibble is that a pre-dinner glass of Prosecco was a startling £12 which we felt was truly OTT as it almost double even city centre prices.

Room Tip: A room with a view over the water would be pleasant.

Nice from the outside and the room was ok. The bathroom is tiny and if your seven feet tall you may be able to use the bathroom mirror. The towel warmer was not working and we called down to the front desk and they said they had to turn it on, but they never did.
Disappointed it was more money than three chimneys and no comparison.
Dinner was ok , but the staff seems overwhelmed and not very organized. They forgot our breakfast and then finally brought it. Food was tasty not memorable. Wifi problematic.
Go somewhere else not worth the money.
