The hotel is in a beautiful setting, which changes all the time. I could look across the bay without getting out of bed! - which was rather nice. A little taster bottle of the local whisky was a welcome touch to greet us on our arrival. Our room itself was quite modest, and while unlike Denton we didn't miss having a television, we did miss having a proper shower. The hand-held one took a bit of getting used to! We were located in the garden annex, so had to walk across to the main hotel building to use the bar, restaurant and lounge, but that wasn't a problem. The lounge was particularly cosy, with a crackling wood fire and comfy sofas. We liked to have a coffee in there after a delicious meal in the restaurant. Fish is particularly good, and I really enjoyed the kippers at breakfast time.
Eilean Iarmain might not be the best choice if, like us, you don't have a car. There's a bus stop about 10-15 minutes' walk away, but buses are few and far between, and don't run at all on Sundays.
