The hotel is in a beautiful setting, which changes all the time. I could look across the bay without getting out of bed! - which was rather nice. A little taster bottle of the local whisky was a welcome touch to greet us on our arrival. Our room itself was quite modest, and while unlike Denton we didn't miss having a television, we did miss having a proper shower. The hand-held one took a bit of getting used to! We were located in the garden annex, so had to walk across to the main hotel building to use the bar, restaurant and lounge, but that wasn't a problem. The lounge was particularly cosy, with a crackling wood fire and comfy sofas. We liked to have a coffee in there after a delicious meal in the restaurant. Fish is particularly good, and I really enjoyed the kippers at breakfast time.
Eilean Iarmain might not be the best choice if, like us, you don't have a car. There's a bus stop about 10-15 minutes' walk away, but buses are few and far between, and don't run at all on Sundays.

Dear PetenCarole

Thank you very much for your wonderful review, we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with us at Eilean Iarmain.

We are looking into changing the layout of some of our bathrooms so as we are able to offer a shower facility in as many bathrooms as possible.

Our chefs are very happy with the abundance of produce they are able to source locally and with the sea literally right on our doorstep fish and shellfish are readily available.

Public transport can be a bit difficult on the island but we are all as businesses campaigning even more to improve on the services provided.

We hope to see you again soon

I have stayed twice at the Eilean Iarmain and have had a brilliant experience on both occasions. It is situated in a stunningly beautiful location and the views from the bedroom windows are amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bedrooms are cosy and clean and very beautifully decorated.

The food is first rate both for dinner and breakfast.and the hospitality trays in the bedrooms contain everything you could possibly need. One feature of this hotel that I have never found anywhere else is a small complimentary bottle of malt whisky in the bedroom. Just the thing to revive you after a long journey.

The only thing I would wish for would be a television in the bedroom. This is not something you would miss on a one or two night stay. If staying for a longer period, however, it is something that I would appreciate. If you are visiting the Scottish Islands I would highly recommend a stay at the Eilean Iarmain. Even if you are touring the mainland West Coast it would be worth the diversion to stay there. You have a treat in store.

Wow - what a brilliant place in a stunning setting. We were lucky to get a table as it was so busy, there were local musicians having a fantastic traditional session, the food was delicious, there was a great selection of excellent beers, and the staff welcoming and friendly. An excellent atmosphere - just what you would hope for in an island bar. Others could learn from you... Thank you!

We have stayed at this hotel six times now and the experience is always stunning. The views are without doubt magnificent and the fact that the hotel lies on the water makes the hotel unique. The rooms are well decorated and cosy and the restaurant serves excellent food both at dinner and breakfast. The hotel bar with its regular live music is a must.
Staff are great particularly Mary, with her perfect New Zealand sense of humour. Its almost worth a visit just to meet her!
This hotel is a must for anybody wanting tranquillity, an excellent dinner and a cosy bed!
We recommend it to all our friends and will return next year.

Room Tip: Choose the suites in the separate building closest to the sea!

This place has the charm and old worldliness that seemed just perfect in the Isle of Skye- it took us into another world. The rooms were cosy and I loved our old fashioned four poster bed but appreciated the modern bath! The food in the formal restaurant was delicious and the pub was a great place to relax for a whiskey or a beer and a great informal feed. The harbour and the views are stunning - breathtaking really- and you may have the opportunity to meet visitors who sail in from places such as Iceland as we did! We absolutely loved every minute of our stay here.

Beautiful location and a really relaxing place to stay. We stayed in the garden house and had fantastic views of the bay, our room was lovely and very cosy with the wood panelling. The huge bed was amazing! My only critisimn was the lack of a proper shower, I found it quite awkward using the hand held one and wouldn't fancy using it in the winter. that said everything else made up for it and the complimentary whisky was very welcome. The staff in the hotel and shops were very friendly. Make sure to get some ice cream from the gift shop as it is amazing. We enjoyed the Whisky tasting and due to baggage restrictions arranged for a bottle to be shipped and it has just turned up today :) We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was very good.

Room Tip: room 12 in the garden house is lovely and has amazing views plus a ginormous bed but only has a hand...

Just returned from a 2 night stay, beautiful location and the views from our room in the main hotel were stunning and so peaceful. A lovely welcome on arrival and all staff during our stay very friendly.
Ate both in the bar and in the hotel and standard of food good but found the selection restricted.

Room Tip: room 2 main hotel , 4 poster plenty of room.
