This cottage is a ten minute drive from the Port of Tarbert in a quiet Island neighbourhood overlooking a bay which occasionally otters can be seen from the cottage (our last night). The welcome note and informative literature in the cottage helped us settle in and plan activities for the 4 of us mostly around medium length walks where the non walker (me) could pick up and drop off. Many alternatives in Harris amd Lewis.
The welcome sponge cake was devoured by all four of us with pleasure and all communications prior to arrival were promptly and more than adequately responded to. The directions to the cottage provided just before we travelled were clear and concise and so east to follow that even i who is not normally entrusted out on his own brought us straight here without deviation.
The cottage was well equipped and the two shops in Talbert supplied most of our needs and in Stornaway and Levenburgh to the South there wer well stocked supermarkets for the shopaholics. We ate well in both Hotels and particularly liked the Cafe near the car park in Tarbert centre.
All four of us enjoyed the experience.
What we loved about Sith Thaimh was the spacious conservatory that looked out onto the bay and the hills. On the wet, windy days it was a very relaxing place to simply sit and read, listen to music and watch the weather run its course. All rooms were very nicely presented and comfortable. The walks in the area are very nice with routes along the loch side and over to Rhenigidale. One thing that would be great for the future is if there could be an access route down to the shoreline in the bay.
