“Great visit”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We've just spent 3 nights at The Hebrides and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the very extensive breakfast menu was perfect. We ate evening meals the hotel bar and enjoyed everything. The Hotel couldn't be nearer the ferry terminal so is in a great location and almost next door to the tourist information centre where we were given lots of information on places to visit. We loved our few days on Harris, it's a beautiful island with stunning views and the most incredible white sand beaches - we'll have to go back!

My husband and I got a fantastic deal to stay at this Hotel for 3 days, which was the perfect amount of time. We had called ahead to request an upgraded room, which we were given at no extra cost which was really great. The journey over is really quite something if you haven't been before and on reaching the port finding that the Hotel is literally 50 yards in front of you in a total bonus. Our check in was really easy and our room was a sea facing, albeit a bit smaller than I had been hoping for, but beautifully decorated. Room was comfortable and facilities were really great, with an additional benefit of a mini bar. Whilst we didn't partake in any of the contents, really due to the pricing we did make good use of the fridge when we bought local produce to bring home. The bar area is really modern and comfortable and although the restaurant wasn't opened during our stay, the bar accommodated us for food. My disappointment was the lack of seafood, I had assumed that given its location I would have had a vast array of local seafood to choose from, but that just wasn't the case. The food was nice, I wouldn't rave about it, but it was decent for a pub. However, when it came to the breakfast, well that was a totally different story, delicious is an understatement, if you don't try the pancakes and bacon or the omelettes you are missing an absolute treat as both were yummy. My husband had a cooked breakfast each day and said it was one of the nicest he had had. I sampled the muesli and other cold foods and again really good. The hotel even accommodated us with a cold breakfast to take away on the morning of departure due to the early ferry. They also accommodated us with room service on the night we arrived, despite the kitchen just about to close. The staff are the real credit here I think, really pleasant, very helpful and they help give the hotel a nice relaxed feeling. Perfectly located to travel around the entire group of Islands and perfectly positioned to catch that early 7.30am Ferry, which although a killer is well worth it to see the sun rise as you cross back over to the mainland. All in all really loved this trip, to escape the hustle and bustle of city life I would most certainly go back and if we are lucky enough to get the same deal again, would stay at this hotel for sure........Only tip to hotel would be to look at offer more local produce in the main meals, we found a great array of local products to buy in Stornoway and would loved to have seen those available on the menu.

Room Tip: Take some supplies, they are really limited in and around Tarbert itself and so you can find yoursel...

We had a 3 night stay here and arrived at 1pm but couldn't get checked in as our room wasn't ready so we had a bit of lunch in the bar.
When we got our room it was a nice room but unfortunately was at the rear of the hotel up 2 flights of stairs with no lift. A small criticism was that, the hotel was empty, so i wonder why we had to wait on our room and why not put us at the front where we may get a view . However it was a good stay, nice and quiet and as tarbert at this time of year has nothing open we had to eat here the 3 days we were here.
The menu was small and expensive for a bar so we struggled for variety but the food was good. A special mention goes to the breakfast chef, breakfasts were excellent served on a piping hot plate
, other chefs please take note.
Overall a good stay but i think things are open to improvement like 1 light out of 4 working in the hall outside our room, remove the smoking area away from the rooms as you cannot open your window due to the smell, and work on the menu, the specials never changed from day to day.
There was a mini bar/fridge in the room ideal for that bottle of vino from the local shop as the mini bar too expensive, fresh sparkling water each day as well.
Finally, hotel is 20 yards away from the ferry.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view

Having booked our stay in the Hotel Hebrides in Tarbert, Harris, we duly arrived to be greeted by a very nice youg lady from Rodel on the island and from then on our stay was faultless. This hotel is quite new and the rooms very well equiped with everything you could need. The breakfast was served in the dining room and was a full scottish breakfast with the best black pudding imaginable. The other meals, due to this being the off season, were served in the bar and maintained the high standard of the hotel. The bar manager, Ewan, saw to it that everything was ship shape and that the service was as good as the rest of the hotel. All in all, a great holiday on this beautiful island made even better by the friendly staff and great accomodation in the Hotel Hebrides.

We had an unscheduled stay at this hotel due to a ferry cancellation and were not disappointed. Very clean room, good pub food and great service. The staff were excellent and very flexible especially with check out. Would definitely recommend.

I recently stayed at the Uig Hotel on business, arriving tired on the ferry at Tarbert and was well looked after. The hotel is stylish, in a great location overlooking the bay and ferry terminus. It's comfortable, with a good bar and food - I recommend the steak pie. The staff are relaxed and friendly, the room was clean, warm and well appointed. I'll be going back again, certainly.

Room Tip: Co-owner Jamie was friendly and professional.

We recently stayed in the Hotel Hebrides in Tarbert, we had a great few days (in the hotel and the island), I'd thoroughly recommend staying there. The hotel is situated in the town, beside the harbour. The hotel is modern, very well designed and built. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and professional. The rooms were an excellent layout, large comfy bed, plenty of room for storage, two chairs for sitting in the evening (so annoying when hotels only have one chair !). Very good heating, two windows both of which opened. The bathroom was extremely good, good separate heating, excellent hot and powerful shower. We ate in the hotel, in the bar for dinner and the restaurant for breakfast. The bar was friendly with a mixture of visitors and locals, the food was very good, including local seafood which was excellent. The restaurant is contemporary with views out to the harbour, the breakfast menu included a number a "local" variants of traditional breakfast, all were very good.
