“Small rooms”
Reviewed 16 June 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel has quite a laid back feel. The reception area and restaurant looks very nice, its a shame the same cant be said about the rooms. We had to have a ground floor room as my husband is a wheelchair user and theres no lift. The room smelt musty and very small and incredibly cramped once our luggage and wheelchair are inside. Luckily a plug in air freshner was provided so that helped with the musty smell. The bed was also tiny, a small double bed. The bathroom also incredibly small. Also to get to our room we had to trapse through the restaurant with our luggage. On a positive note, the room was warm with a radiator and adjustable thermostat, plenty of tea coffee making facilities and plenty of cupboards and drawers. The staff are all very friendly. We never made breakfast as it finishes at 9.30am! Do they not know people are on holiday? The public bar had a nice vibe tho a bit pricey, however it is a hotel bar. We had a bar meal and it was very good.

After arriving I thought it had potential to be a nice hotel as the bar and reception looks ok. When taken to my room I was greeted with a Smokey dated room which I refused to stay in, the shower was also covered in black mildew. Second room was much the same drag decor and looked like a 70's throwback and the smell of damp was just nasty! I was finally given a third choice after the bar manger beat me into submition with free drinks as it was really hot, this room was OK but I only stayed because the premier inn was full and could no longer be bothered to shift my bags. The staff however are very helpful and did try to make me feel welcome. Wedding venue! Your kidding right?

I am stating in this hotel for two nights through my work. This hotel is not the best. The room has a bad smell heating not working and moved the bed to plug in my phone and found a few inches of dust there.Supposed to be a double room but is more like a single with a double bed in it can touch the shower room door from my bed its so small. Shower room has a shower and toilet and wash hand basin all tightly squeezed in. The bar is below my room and there is constant bang bang of music coming into the room. The wall paper is starting to peel off and there is mold on some parts of the ceiling. One good side is the food and staff in the restaurant are good and friendly. The receptionist is a bit grumpy.

This hotel is a mish mash of old parts and even older parts! Dirt everywhere, smelly rooms and very average food which was nearly always luke warm. However the staff were pleasant and the bed linen was clean. How this hotel survives is a mystery. An advert on the front of the hotel states West Lothian's premier wedding venue - I hope not!!!!!

Stayed here for 1 night while attending a party in the function room.

The ground floor of the hotel and restaurant have been modernised and looked very nice, the function room was also clean and tidy and a decent size.

Our room was right above reception in the main part of the building and while a little old fashioned with too much wood for my liking it was large and clean.

The bedroom and bed was large with a huge bay window overlooking the car park, the bathroom was large with a shower above the whirlpool bath.

Staff were all very friendly and in the morning there was a cold buffet breakfast with hot food all available and cooked to order, all of this was included in the b&b price. Breakfast is served in the conservatory restauarant which was modern and very sunny!

I wouldn't pick this hotel for a long stay and may have just got lucky with the room but I have no complaints.

Room Tip: Sounds like a room in the main building is the way to go!

Reception area and restaurant are really nice but upstairs is a different story. Small, cold, badly furnished, tatty, miniscule bathroom complete with a good helping of black mould. To top it all off, the grotty pub (complete with the wolrds most miserable barman) which is attached downstairs played loud music until gone midnight, not good if like me, you had to be up for work in the morning.
Best feature was the lady on reception, couldn't do enough for me and was way too good for that place. A re-furb (with a bolldozer) would help .....

Room Tip: Cheap but you'll regret it ....
