We were staying at the Braemar Lodge Hotel but their chef was 'off' so we opted for Moorfield House for an evening meal. If only we'd booked to stay there in the first place (they offer good DB&B rates). Immediately we were greeted by the owner with a professional, friendly welcome. A drink in the bar, followed by an amazing meal (we both went for the haggis in chicken, though we spent ages choosing from a tempting menu). Excellent service, nicely spread out (so we weren't ear-wigging on other people's conversations) and a quality and presentation of food that will take us back again. After the meal, we chatted to a mix of fellow travellers, friendly locals and Iain, the hospitable owner, who joined us, and had a fascinating, enjoyable and entertaining end of evening.
