“Excellent place to stay in the heart of Braemar”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Ivy Cottage was perfect in every way and Jennifer was lovely and very welcoming. The place was immaculate and of a very high standard with lots of very special touches. The breakfasts were made even better by being able to sit and watch red squirrels, birds and baby rabbits in the garden. A wonderful place to stay to explore the Cairngorm National Park.

My husband and I stayed at Ivy Cottage for two nights in June. Jennifer was a perfect host. She greeted us with homemade cookies and coffee upon our arrival. Our room was lovely. We had a view of the garden and watched the baby rabbits at play (and nibbling the flowers). We took many lovely walks to the River Dee, Braemar Castle, and around town. We also hiked Morrone and the views were stunning. At Jennifer's suggestion we stopped to see the Linn of Dee on our last morning. Gorgeous. We had dinner at the cottage both nights.. Jennifer is an excellent cook.. make sure you have dessert too. If you're looking for a great place to stay (and eat) in the Braemar area, go to the Ivy Cottage. Penny and Jim from Groton, MA

We had 3 nights B & B accommodation at Ivy Cottage. Jennifer couldn't have been a more perfect host and there were some very thoughtful touches such as home-made cookies on the tea tray, nice body lotion in the bathroom etc.
Breakfast was very good, plentiful and tasty. We also had dinner for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed Jennifer's cooking skills.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfy. We really cannot fault anything and it is value for money.
The position is ideal for the Cairngorms and we really enjoyed a couple of local walks, along the river (where we saw oyster catchers) and up a small mountain (or it felt like a mountain) where we didn't have to take the car. Locally, the Linn of Dee is beautiful - in fact, the scenery is beautiful everywhere you go.

We had a great time and could not fault Ivy Cottage. We did have one problem as on our journey from the north our sat. nav. took us to Breamar and then three miles south over a bridge and then three miles back on a single track road. Ivy Cottage is in the centre of Breamar so when you reach there ignore your sat. nav. if it tells you there is six miles to go!!!!!

We stayed in Ivy cottage on a self catering basis with the property providing a sitting area with log burning stove, a fully fitted kitchen which is small but includes a dish washer, a shower room
which is small but very well fitted out and a bedroom upstairs with a vey large and comfortable bed. The whole property is immaculate. The property is less than a 100 yards from two supermarkets but on arrival we were very pleased to find a supply of coffee and tea bags so we could have a drink before the need to shop. Jennifer met us and showed us the property, making us feel very welcome she also gave us some home made biscuits. A big thank you to her for allowing us to stay in this wonderful little house.

We booked 5 nights in order to tour the Cairngorms and what a lovely area.
Our stay was made so comfortable by the superb standard of cleanliness/cooking and the lovely host.
Jennifer was always pleased to advise on places to visit and nothing was too much trouble even and we were welcomed by a pot of tea and cookies for 2 on arrival.
The room was spacious and well appointed with a huge double bed and all the faciliites including tv/tea making and modern en-suite bathroom with shower.

Would highly recommend.

We stayed in "The Bothy" at Ivy Cottage.
A well laid out, perfect little studio to explore the area from.
The bed is huge and comfy, the little kitchen and shower room well appointed and all kept to the highest standards of cleanliness. We enjoyed catching up with Springwatch on the telly when we got in. Jennifer welcomed us with a tin of homemade chocolate and hazelnut cookies.
Our 3 night stay was lovely and I would recommend anyone visiting Braemar to stay here :)
(The book selection above the fireplace is pretty good also)
Thanks again to Jennifer for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: The Bothy is self contained and ideal if staying less than a week.

This guest house is perfect in every way. Others have said it all but it's worth repeating comment on cleanliness, comfort, location and the host, Jennifer's cooking - all first class+. We were treated with such courtesy and made to feel very welcome. If you do stay, we'd recommend having dinner at Ivy Cottage too - such excellent value and truly delicious. We will never stay anywhere else now when we're in this area.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3 in the main cottage - extremely comfortable super king bed with crisp white line...
