“Walker friendly, comfy bed and a lovely breakfast”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Stayed at Craiglea before climbing Derry Cairngorm. This is a walker and cyclist friendly B&B. The bed was very comfy, the room had a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and free wi fi. The en-suite bathroom was quite small and on the cold side. David and Angela, were very accommodating by cooking us an early breakfast, which was very good with lovely bacon from the local butcher. They will also do an evening meal on request, which I wish we had requested as there were so few places open in Braemar to eat on a Sunday evening. Would stay there again.

We were in Braemar for a wedding at mar lodge so needed a room for 2 nights. The room was huge with a double bed and 2 singles, it was clean and comfortable, bathroom seemed fairly new. We met friends on the Friday who were all staying in the fife arms hotel and by comparison our B and B was far better!! Breakfast here was great - made to order and a decent selection. The owners were fantastic, very knowledgeable about the area and willing to share any info they could. We weren't in the B and B for much time but it was great for our stay and ticked all the boxes. There was a lot you could do through the B and B like cycling so I am sure if we had been up for a holiday we would have been just pleased with our stay. Would absolutely recommend.

Although it was over 2 months ago now, we haven't forgotten the lovely stay we had at Craiglea! The hosts , David and Angela , were very welcoming , friendly and helpful which made our stay even more enjoyable. Our room and ensuite were spacious and comfortable and the breakfasts, cooked to order, were excellent , as were the two evening meals we enjoyed there.
So many thanks to this lovely family !

Steep flight of stairs to room Number 1. Large room, double bed and a large, bright bathroom with bath and separate shower cubical. Rest of the house, entrance, stairs, and garden all in much need of careful tender loving care. Unremarkable breakfast. Advertsied that they had free WiFi, which was one of the attractive choices when I booked, but it was not working the night we stayed, frustrating! Welcoming hostess.

Room Tip: Room No 1 might be the best.

Stayed for one night in early July as a couple, no real complaints. The owners seem friendly, the bed was really comfortable. Slightly old and creaky room which wasn't very modern but everything was perfectly clean. Huge bathroom with bath and shower. Breakfast was good if not a little awkward due to quite a small dining room, took us a couple of attempts to get seated and would have preferred a table to ourselves but the food was very nice.

The only thing we found irritating were the really thin curtains, having such a comftable bed but waking up at the crack of dawn was annoying. Room would be hugely improved with a decent pair of curtains.

Overall we were very happy though! Thanks!

We stayed here for two nights & were very disappointed with the size of the bedroom & shower room, it was very cramped. The room was very clean & bed comfortable. Breakfast was ok & the hoss helpful & friendly, but we wouldn't return.....

Our family of three wound up here after trying two other booked-up B&B's in Braemar. The host was reasonably friendly, but the room we were offered was very small, with only room for a single chair. In desperation, we accepted lodging. We were quite disappointed to find that there was no sitting room, which we had come to expect from every B&B. This meant sitting on our beds in order to read & relax - not very comfortable. Also, the quality of the furnishings and fittings--except for the beds, which were fine--was noticeably sub-standard.

Breakfast was good, but in the end our stay at Craiglea was not a positive experience.
