We spent the night in the Allt-na-craig on route to visit friends, but also to spend time in Ardrishaig. It is a very imposing Victorian house, facing Loch Fyne. We were met by Hamish and Charlotte, the owners, and given a warm welcome.
Our room was large and spacious looking over the Loch. The bathroom was of a good size also, with a jaccuzzi bath, which was a nice surprise.
The bed was comfortable, my only comment would be that the room was stuffy, possibly due to the dryness caused by the electric storage heating.
Breakfast was very good with an assortment of cereal, juices, followed by freshly cooked eggs and bacon, etc.
On the whole we would return here and certainly recommend it to friends.

When we arrived we were met by Hamish with a cheery welcome, he explained a bit about the house and showed us to a very pleasant room, with tradition furniture, overlooking the front lawn and Loch Fyne. The excellent breakfasts were (I believe) cooked by Charlotte who was also a charming host. The hotel was always immaculately clean and tidy. We had an enjoyable stay and would not hesitate in returning.

Lovely warm welcome. House has a lovely cosy feeling and although next to the main road, was very quiet. Lovely view of loch and formal gardens, even in the rain. Hamish and Charlotte, our hosts, were always very friendly and more than helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Cannot fault the breakfast or dinner. Would have stayed longer if we could.

We have stayed here twice, once on our way to check out a wedding venue in Kintyre and a few months later enroute to our wedding! A great stopover point if you are travelling to the Mull of Kintyre. Traditionally furnished clean and comfortable home with fantastic views, warm and welcoming hosts and fantastic breakfast. Loved the big bathrooms. A peaceful spot but close to good road links. Hamish and Charlotte accommodated our extra guest for breakfast at short notice and were full of local knowledge hints and tips to make our stay a memorable one. Our 9 year old loved having the run of the garden and the tree swing. We didnt have dinner there but if Charlotte's breakfasts are to go by I wouldnt hesitate.

Have now stayed here several times for work purposes. Have found Hamish and Charlotte to be excellent hosts. The house has a charm and welcoming feeling. On my last visit ate in the restraunt the food was fabulous and will repeat the experience on my next trip. If you want a modern soulless experience this is not for you.

Allt-na-Craig has much to recommend it: a pleasant loch-side setting; a smiling host & hostess; good home-cooking, (including dinner on request); a drawing room with a view and plentiful parking. Some rooms are cheerfully decorated - and when the weather changed for the worse, were well-heated. BUT, the undulating bed in the 'best' room should have been replaced some time ago by one less likely to encourage muscle spasm and insomnia. The room did not live up to expectation or description as 'de luxe' because of the deteriorating condition of the bed (and wardrobe). The breakfast is generally good and well cooked, yet we were at a loss to understand why supplements and excess charges were needed. Having stayed on the edges of Loch Fyne before, it was a first to have to pay extra for Loch Fyne kippers! And as one guest put it, excess charges - however small - for 'too many' cooked items for breakfast are irksome. It made us feel uncomfortable.

Not sure where Hans B was staying, but his review doesn't sound anything like Allt Na Craig, perhaps he thought he was booked into a "Premier Inn" with 24 hour room service. On our stay Hamish and Charlotte couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, the room was clean, comfortable, and a well stocked hospitality tray. When we needed to breakfast earlier than normal (admitedly not as early as 7am), our hosts could not have been more obliging. We would certainly stay there again, and would recommend this guesthouse unreservedly.
