“A gem of a place in every possible way”

Stayed here 6 nights for birthday treat and much needed relaxing break. This is a handsome house in a peaceful, picturesque spot overlooking Loch Fyne in the tiny hamlet of St Catherine's. Welcomed by genuine, friendly, attentive hosts Jennifer and Alistair. Stayed in 2nd floor Campbell Room (top floor). Really lovely room with everything you could need and more (such as DVD library and playing cards). Also had use of the large guest lounge with roaring open fire. Free wi-fi and if you haven't got your pc, there's a good Dell laptop available to use. Delicious breakfast using local produce; not a butter pat or jam portion in sight! Instead, fresh butter and a vast array of conficture from locally based Fyne Preserves. 11 miles from Inverary, 10 miles from Arrochar, several lovely places to eat more locally. Also has its own bit of history being the place you could catch a coach (and horses) after disembarking the ferry from Inverary to whisk you over Hell's Glen to get the ferry/coach to Glasgow!! A truly wonderful b&b with excellent service, food and facilities

Room Tip: Campbell Room on the top (2nd) floor has a 4-poster bed and views of Loch Fyne

Thistle house guest house is overwhelmingly beautiful. It's location is superb with extensive loch fyne views, even from my bedroom! The owners Allistar and Jeniffer and lovely, welcoming, Scottish and so helpful. My room was amazing and clean. Breakfast was delicious. I loved staying here and would HIGHLY recommend this place!

We stayed one night at Thistle House and were so pleased with our room. Spacious, clean -- lovely! Our hostess was delightful, and our breakfast terrific! The location is lovely. Our room overlooked Loch Fyne.

We stayed here for a couple of nights when attending a wedding locally.

The team who run the venue are excellent and drove us to the wedding so that we didn't have to worry about our car.

The rooms are all uniquely deocrated and appointed which adds a nice touch to the stay. It was so nice to be able to relax in a room that didnt feel like a hotel.

Breakfast was fantastic with the best local produce being freshly cooked to order.

Stayed two nights with my wife, couldn't fault this place. We arrived quite a bit earlier than expected but this was no problem as Jennifer is a most gracious host. We were given assistance with our luggage and shown to our room overlooking Loch Fyne. Everything was explained and Jennifer seemed genuinely interested our 'story' meaning that in no time at all, we didn't feel like strangers. The rooms are beautiful, the breakfast was excellent and the place was spotless throughout. Take no chances book this place now!

We were only staying for one night but we will surely be back again. Our room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable and the en suite shower room was well appointed and a good size. We were greeted as we came down stairs for breakfast. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and made with high quality ingredients. The location is idyllic with views across the loch to Inverary. A perfect spot for a relaxing occasion. We ate at the Loch Fyne Oyster bar where we had a delicious dinner. We were however unable to get a taxi so had to drive. As we were leaving however Jenifer told us that she can arrange transport so if you want to go out for dinner and don't want to drive do speak to Jenifer when you book your accommodation.

Room Tip: No Ground floor bedrooms. Bedrooms are on first and second floors.

When we arrived, (this is a return visit) we had a friendly welcome and an offer to make us a coffee or tea, which I gratefully said yes too. Not only did we have smashing tea & coffee bit a selection of delicious homemade delights.

I was initially disappointed with our room, it was a bit small & on the top floor, but it was very pretty and had a good view of the loch. Next time I will get myself organized & book earlier!

Jennifer is a great host without being in your face & the breakfasts were lovely.

Ate at the Creggans Inn whilst here and the food was good and the beer battered haddock being the best they served us along with the desserts.
