This guest house was absolutely beautiful. It was in the middle of the countryside with nothing around except beautiful scenery. The lounge and bedroom were gorgeous, it felt like we were staying in a stately home! We ate at the local pub not far away, which was excellent!

Alistair and Jenifer are charming hosts and the guest house has grand views of Loch Fyne with Inverary Castle just beyond. Lounge a perfect place to recline and not too much chintz or family heirlooms to freak one out. Good meals in pub down the street and Loch Fyne oysters are the best - well they serve them in the chic art deco bar Roganos in Glasgow as it happens!

Upon our arrival to the Thistle House Guest House, we were warmly greeted by the proprietors, Jennifer and Alisdair. The house itself from the outside looks like a charming small manor house. Inside, the house is beautifully decorated to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We loved the Black Watch tartan carpet, the beautiful banister woodwork, and the homey touches throughout the house.
The location is perfect, nestled on the eastern bank of Loch Fyne. From our room, we were greeted with a spectacular view of Loch Fyne and Inveraray, from the steeple of the church and the buildings in the surrounding town to the turrets of Inveraray Castle. For my wife, an aficionado of "Downton Abbey", it couldn't have gotten any better.
The room, like the rest of the house, was cozy, nicely decorated and inviting. We sank into the soft mattress, one of the most comfortable of our trip, and had absolutely no trouble falling asleep. The en suite bathroom was nicely appointed and the towel warming rack was greatly appreciated on a cool morning.
The breakfast was delicious. I enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast while my wife had the best and only waffles she found at any of the places we stayed in Scotland. The jams and marmalades are homemade. We enjoyed them so much, we purchased some to take home.
Our stay this time was only one night. We look forward to coming back another time for a longer stay.

We stayed with Alistair & Jenifer last month in their beautiful home on the side of Loch Fyne, the views across the loch were breathtaking. The facilities in Thistle House are fantastic extremely comfy beds every need catered for & the breakfast really sets one up for the day, this one place very worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent location, good view of the Inveraray Castle (and of Inveraray itself), kind hosts and a to-die-for sumptuous breakfast - if this not satisfy you, then you better look out for accommodations at the Buckingham Palace!!!!

The house itself is well-maintained, and a personification of cleanliness. The hosts have gone to great lengths in creating a welcoming atmosphere and very commendable that they have the heart to open up such a beautiful home to others.

The restaurants might not be too close, but a short drive does lead to excellent ones. The hosts, Alistair and Jennifer, were most helpful in providing information about not just the restaurants, but also the must-see things around the area.

Our stay was for 1 day, but we wish it was longer. Looking forward to returning there soon.

Room Tip: Higher floors that face the lake / Inveraray - those are the best rooms.

Stayed in early May with my bf and my relative, enjoyed everything! Very nice place to stay, nice rooms (Fergus suite, 2 rooms with shared bathroom), magnificent view from the lounge, very quiet, nice green area around for walks. Quality food for breakfast a la carte, friendly and helpful personnel! We spent just 1 night and we want to return again!!! Highly recommended
