“A Wee Treasure for the Hungry Traveller”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

We dined here during our stay on Jura, the food, service and atmosphere on the first night was wonderful, the Langostines and the Vension Pie were a a welcome treat. As for the cheese board, the restaurant is missing a trick here, there are many wonderful Scottish cheeses which would work so well as a post dinner treat and make the perfect compliment to the wine list and a wee dram of Jura.

“Local fare and welcome”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

After a wee dram at the Jura distillery and perhaps a hike a visit to the hotel for a bit of local hospitality. The food is pub style and is very good, the selection of local libations is certainly worse trying, and you could say all roads on Jura lead you to this place, as there is only one road, Jura is a beautiful wee Island and well worth a day trip from Islay.

“A key attraction in Craighouse, Jura”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

Whilst staying in Islay we visited Jura for the day, travelling by bus from Bowmore, ferry to Feolin and finally art walking, part bus to Craighouse. The two obvious attractions in Craighouse are the Jura Distillery and the Jura Hotel which is across the rad from the distillery. We had lunch there and it was very good - hearty homemade dishes with the option to eat in the restaurant, the bar or outside. The food was very tasty and good value for money. We finished the meal with a speciality Paps whisky which was amazing - toffee and peat!

“Good "local" style atmosphere”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

Food is good quality typical pub fayre, nothing particularly special but served promptly and with a smile. The atmosphere is very much like a pub and it makes no pretences to be anything else. Some decent beers including a few bottled local ales and of course a full range of the excellent Jura whiskies. The distillery is just across the road.

“Lovely location with great views across the bay”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

Very good service, friendly ambiance and lots of good local produce. Try the potted Islay crab and the langoustines. Very generous portions! You can eat in the restaurant or the bar- or even if you are lucky like us, in the garden! This hotel is a wee jewel.
