Although the Jura Hotel is the only hotel on the island so the owners could take custom for granted, our accommodation was very comfortable - a superior double en-suite room - the locally produced food was excellent, and the staff were always helpful. It was a very pleasant place to stay in and to return to at the end of a day's walking. You can eat in three different places within the hotel, and there are also two lounges to relax in, essential if the weather took a turn for the worse. There are a number of invaluable booklets for sale in reception on island walks, local history etc.

We have stayed in this hotel over a number of years as the Jura hill race takes place every year starting in Craighouse. We were delighted to find a major refurb had taken place this year and our bedroom had been completely redecorated and a new bathroom fitted. The new owners have made a splendid job of this and we are sure many visitors to the island will enjoy the upgraded facilities. There is a limited manu at the hotel butthe food is tasty and plentiful. There is a small bistro just along the road if you prefer. The small ferry from Tayvallich is still running and this means the journey from the mainland to Craighouse can be done in 45mins. However, beware, the seas can be choppy! Make sure you take insect repellent!

Having enjoyed our last visit two years ago we were interested to see if the hotal had changed under the new young owners. We were delighted that the improvements that had been made had enhanced the friendly atmosphere of this lovely hotel without affecting the welcoming atmosphere that had been created by the previous managers. The new owner was charming and despite his wife being about to give birth and his hotel being full he was patient and caring to his his guests needs. The food is still hearty and good value - unlike his competitor's on the neighbouring island of Colonsay - and guests are able to choose to eat from the same menu in the bars or restaurant.

Room Tip: The floor boards on the second floor creak a lot

The staff try really hard to please despite the hotel having a monopoly. We had a great room, comfortable bed, enoyable meals and malts (although some of the latter ran out during our stay) and felt that we were really welcome. There was a major storm during our stay and we were kept well-informed about ferries and accommodation. Thanks for a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely location ( a view to die for !). Good food and excellent service helped even if the weather was a bit indifferent (but that is Scotland).
Very homely atmosphere in the hotel.

It needs a good brighten up... but in some ways it is all part of its charm. You get the feeling this place has sheltered many a weary storm blown traveller.

The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable and the food was excellent in quality and value.

It can't be easy to run a hotel this isolated and I reckon they're doing a great job of it.

We stayed here on a walking trip and were very pleased by the efforts made by the young owners to make all guests as welcome as possible. Not all rooms were available due to the upgrading work but the one we were in had a glorious sea view. The workmen did not intrude on our enjoyment of the visit at all.
