We travelled from Northern Ireland by boat for a short visit to Jura. Didn't stay in the hotel but had a very enjoyable meal of local seafood. Hope to get back for an overnight stay soon.

We had a wonderful time on Jura and made more special by the staff at the Jura Hotel. We had a marvellous view over the bay and were able to enjoy spectacular sunrises. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was good quality and great value. It is clear that the new owners are determined to build up a successful business.

It is great that those on a budget or who simply want to, can camp on the lawn at the front of the hotel for a donation. Showers and washing machine facilities are also available to campers. This is an enlighted approach that we are sure will pay dividends.

This is a comfortable, friendly and good value hotel. We hope the new owners will continue to make improvements but retain its essential character.

The bar would benefit from a wider selection of beers and perhaps guest ales and a better selection of malts. Also, I am sure it could make more of the wonderful local seafood, lamb, beef and dairy products.

Room Tip: A view of the bay is worth the extra cost

We stayed for 2 nights and slept extremely well. Our room was huge and had fantastic views across the bay. The bar was cosy and lively at night. Luckily our room was at the far end of the hotel. We ate dinner one night. My salmon was excellent but my partner's spinach and goat's cheese tart was somewhat overwhelmed by the huge pile of chips on the plate! Breakfast was served in the sunny dining room and for the first time on this trip to Scotland I had kippers. They were delicious.

Good rooms if you have a refurbished room, nice furniture and clean. Hotel good location next to the distillery and overlooking the bay. Hotel bar well stocked and reasonable.. Food disappointing and service very disappointing. I found the staff at this hotel generally unfriendly and unhappy in going about their respective jobs....

Fantastic hotel with everything you would need for a relaxing break. An extensive menu to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff are the key to the success of this place. Young, enthusiastic, articulate, highly educated and informed. A pleasure to be around ! I spent nearly a week here and was very sad to leave.

Although the Jura Hotel is the only hotel on the island so the owners could take custom for granted, our accommodation was very comfortable - a superior double en-suite room - the locally produced food was excellent, and the staff were always helpful. It was a very pleasant place to stay in and to return to at the end of a day's walking. You can eat in three different places within the hotel, and there are also two lounges to relax in, essential if the weather took a turn for the worse. There are a number of invaluable booklets for sale in reception on island walks, local history etc.
