We spent a couple of nights at the Jura hotel before spending a week on Islay. The location of this hotel really is stunning - our room had the most beautifuk views over the sound.

Our room was excellent - nicely decorated, with very comfortable beds, very good bathroom and shower, everything spotlessly clean - and best of all fantastic views.

The breakfast and the restaurant were both very good - a good choice on the menu and everything was nicely done.

All of the staff that we saw were brilliant - everyone was helpful and friendly and really did make our stay a very memorable one.

We are regular day visitors to Jura and have enjoyed many lovely walks and great lunches during our visits. This time we were lucky enough to stay for a couple of nights at the hotel for the Jura Music Festival and we had an amazing time. We love this island anyway so knew what to expect re the warm welcome and breathtaking views. The hotel accommodation was first rate - spacious, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean - the staff were lovely, food was good and we enjoyed all the hospitality that the island and the Festival had to offer. Can't wait to stay here again, it's a little bit of paradise!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 10, it was huge and had a stunning view and gorgeous ensuite

We stayed for only one night at this homely hotel, so that we could walk up the Paps of Jura. There isn't much anywhere else to stay on Jura , and as far as I know nowhere else to get an evening meal. The staff at the hotel are really welcoming and the whole place had a warm and friendly atmosphere, which may have owed something to the fact that the Music festival had just finished. The rooms we were in were fairly traditional and could perhaps have benefited from an upgrade - as the excellent en-suite had already had, but you can trade a bit of upgrade for a fantastic view which is what our rooms had. The dinner was really good, but I was a bit disappointed that there were no venison steaks on the menu, just a sort of casserole. Very nice, but not what I was pining for after a day's walking, spent largely avoiding the stalkers. If they are blazing away most of the time, where does the venison go?

Our stay on Jura was made special by staying at this lovely hotel. Very convenient for the distillery as well. Had a sea view over the Sound of Jura. Would love to visit Jura again and we will definitely stay at this hotel.

I lived on the Isle of Jura for 2 years. The Jura Hotel is situated in the middle of Craighouse, which is the only village on the island. The hotel overlooks the Sound of Jura and the secenery is amazing. The hotel itself is.clean and tidy. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. Hotel staff are cheerful and will help wherever they can. I have eaten in the hotel and the meals are very good. The local people are also very friendly, but, the cleggs and midgies aren't. Take plenty of insect repellent with you (lemon scented coz they don't like lemon). So don't say you haven't been warned. Please don't let that put you off, Jura is a beautiful island. The deer roaming the island outnumber people many times over and it is fantastic for hillwalking if that's what you like doing. The PAPS of Jura are beautiful and every year they have the the Fells race where people come from all over the world to take part. That is an amazing weekend, especially if you enjoy the outdoor life. The island is very quiet for the best part of the year but the summer sees an influx of visitors and most of whom enjoy outdoor activities. They also host The Jura music festival every year where again musicians come from all over the world to take part. The Jura distillery, like the hotel is situated in the middle of Craighouse. Also across the road from the distillery is the only shop on the island which doubles as a Post Office. And next to that is the communal hall, which is used for activities for the local children during the year but it also is used for regular Caleidh's which are held for locals and visitors throughout the year. These are not to be missed. To get to Jura you have to travel by ferry from Kennacraig to either Port Ellen or Port Askaig. A lot depends on the time of your crossing to which port you go into. Port Askaig is the closest to Jura. Then you have to get the small ferry called Eilean Dhuira (Isle of Jura) over the sound and onto the island. If you are not a driver there is a local bus that will pick you up at the ferry in Jura and take you to the hotel. The island, the hotel and the scenery are well worth the journey. I have been back now for a few years but all of my memories are good.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea-view definitely worthwhile.
