“Great pool. Excellent seafood. Brilliant view. Lovely rooms.”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

The ensuite rooms have lovely views of the loch, with seating in the window or even a small balcony. The rooms are very comfortable and restful.

The seafood restuarant is busy, so booking a table is recommended but it is the excellent seafood that undoubtably attracts people to dine there. Watching the sun sink behind the mountains beyond the loch, or on mistier days the ripples along the shoreline is clearly a bonus. The service is also very good and prompt.

We found the small swimming pool to be a particular delight, with even a water jet for those who want to do some swimming sprints without moving, or more leisurely long distance if you want to guarantee no loss of goggles. The water temperature is perfect, neither overheated nor glacial meltwater. Three families adequately bring the pool to capacity, but we found it quiet enough to swim alone both evening and morning of a one night stay.

The combination of facilities, comfort, location, and service make this a hotel that we will undoubtably revisit.

Food Good. Setting Good. Staff well trained and very friendly and helpful.
Close to many outdoor facilities
Including Glencoe and Fort William..
Will certainly be back.
One Drawback Remember to take Midgie cream...

Room Tip: For Meals prebook to save disapointment

Had a pub meal here a couple of weeks ago whilst staying at a camp site up the road. Would have liked to have had an evening meal here but no taxi was available and it was an hour's walk each way. I had salmon salad and my husband had a steak both of which were delicious. You get a basket of french bread and butter too. The male member of staff who served us was really friendly and helpful and the views were amazing. Luckily it was a nice day so we were able to sit outside. Would stop here again if we are up that way again in the future.

Had dinner in the bar here when staying near Glencoe. The location is simply exquisite ... right on the loch and we could go for a stroll while our dinner was prepared. The staff were also very nice and friendly. Food was ok, which would not have been a problem were it not overpriced for what it is. The vegetarian ravioli was overloaded with tomatoes and generally looked more like a mush ... Would draw a lot of shakes of head and swearing from Gordon Ramsey I am sure! Children's meals seemed more decent and the salads too. Just an ok meal but the location makes up for it.

Had a top class meal here while staying in Glencoe. Beautiful setting, friendly service and delicious, well cooked food. Had juicy scallops followed by perfectly cooked venison. Portions are on the large side but managed a pudding too! Highly recommended.

We have visited the Holly Tree 3 times in 10months and each visit we love it even more ! The food is to die for with good selection of excellent quality food cooked to perfection ! We always have one of the Captains rooms which has a balcony with beautiful views towards Oban & Fort William. The sunsets are awesome. Our room was spacious , clean ,well furnished with large comfortable beds and the luxurious bathroom has large shower & bath . Beautiful loch views as the hotel sits on the edge of Loch Linnhe. The staff are friendly yet professional our Grandson has allergies and they went out of their way to assure his food safety ! Well done . The whole hotel has a special ambience with its history - previously old railway station of Kentallen and Rennie McIntosh themed restaurant. There is a lovely swimming pool & sauna so nice after day of adventures. Thanks again everyone for an unforgetable stay & look forward to returning soon .

Room Tip: Captains room has balcony but all have loch view. Also lodges available.

Lovely spot. Nice decor with magnificent views. Friendly staff.

Steak pie was't ordinary and could have done with more cooking. The veg were on the raw side, one more minute would have won me over. The mange tout hadn't seen any hot water. Lol.
There was plenty of the filling but a scant topping.

This brings me to my pet hate, it was not steak pie, put a beef stew with a lid added later. Tell the chef to look at the definition of a pie. Chef will find out that a pie means that oastry and filling touch each other during the cooking time.
Disappointing overall, I felt the menu was generally pricey and would have like to have had a roast, after all it was Sunday.
