This is without doubt the most magical of places to visit for such a special day..!!..we couldn't have wished for more. The drive along single track towards the hotel was scenic and easy, I've experienced far worse tracks in Scotland - this is well maintained and a lovely drive with great views. Your sat- nav will say you've arrived a mile before the hotel - just carry on and be welcomed by Lisa and Chris - they will ensure your stay is perfect. A well stocked bar, open log fire, very comfy bar lounge and siting room with fantastic loch side views.. The fine dining although "expensive" at £50pp well worth any special occasion - I'm sure the new bistro will give more options on price due to open shortly. Our room Etive was very relaxing with every facility you could wish for - even hot water bottles supplied whist we were enjoying the restaurant. Finally, enjoy the loch side walks and views - stunning, and it is true this is a "remote" location go prepared..!!..a good book, very relaxing.

Room Tip: View the gallery of bedrooms first and take your choice - they are all exceptional and very different - if you want a loch side view ask for it..!!

Wonderful old Scottish house idyllic setting and very peaceful. only fine dining option available which at £50ph is just not on the agenda every night, what they need is a good bar food alternative. Rooms are a bit tired and basic, however they are clean and comfortable. Public areas are also in need of a bit of tlc but comfortable enough. the place is filled with antiques and some dreadful copies which makes it a bit quirky but in a nice way.Staff all pleasant. Its one of those places that could really do with a major overhaul but it would cost probably 7 figures to do it and I guess that's not going to pay for its self

This is a truly magical place and I couldn’t have asked for a better spot to get married.

Getting married here requires you to buy out the hotel for at least one night, which isn’t cheap. But what you get for that money is worth it. We got this incredible manor, all to ourselves. All the staff were there only for us, and they treated us so well. I really can’t say enough about the incredible staff at this hotel. Everybody was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us happy.

Kari was so helpful with setting up everything for the wedding, and on the wedding day she was amazing. She handled everything so well and I didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day. She helped me plan the whole wedding from Canada and she made us feel very at ease with doing so.

The restaurant and bar staff were incredible. The food was great. The bar was well stocked with a huge variety of scotch.

The boathouse is a perfect getaway. It’s a couple minutes’ walk down the road from the main hotel, so it’s very private. The balcony doors open up right onto the gorgeous loch. It’s quiet and peaceful and staggeringly beautiful. We peeked in at a few of the other guest rooms too, and they were also great (especially Tervine).

The grounds are not to be missed. You have to see the moss covered forest to believe it. It’s the most magical place I’ve ever seen. There are birds everywhere, and if you’re lucky, you might even see a deer. Everything is beautiful, even in the pouring rain. It rained on the wedding day and we didn’t even care. It was still gorgeous. The hotel has a whole bunch of wellies if you didn't bring your own, so don't let the rain stop you from exploring.

One word of warning: This place is super remote. Do not underestimate how isolated you’ll be up here. Getting to the Ardanaseig involves about 40 minutes on a single track road, out into the middle of nowhere. One of our guests found the road quite terrifying and was almost sick. The closest town is almost an hour away. Come prepared. Bring snacks. It’s absolutely worth it.

This is an old building, and some things creak and some of the upholstery is a bit frayed around the edges, but that just adds to the charm. It’s homey and relaxing. Don't come here expecting a brand new, immaculate place. This isn't that kind of place.

We’re already looking forward to going back to celebrate our anniversary.

Room Tip: The boathouse is a private and romantic getaway with an incomparable view.

Partner and I were given an It Is On voucher for an overnight stay at this hotel. Make sure you have a sat nav for the journey as it is very tricky to find, and anyone who suffers from travel sickness should be warned that the last leg of the journey is ten miles of single track road, I am a good traveller but upon arrival at the hotel I felt terrible and nauseous. The hotel itself is beautiful and has spectacular views but it is literally in the middle of nowhere. Upon arrival we were met by the manager who gave us a tour of the hotel, including the drawing room with grand piano, and the library bar room, both rooms are impressive, as was our bedroom. The main hiccup of our trip was when we were asked if we would be dining at the hotel. As far as we were concerned we had no other option but to eat at the hotel as previously stated hotel is quite isolated and is 45 mins from Oban. My partner was not willing to drive along the horrendous roads in the dark otherwise we would have made the journey to eat elsewhere. Instead we paid £50 each for a "5 course gourmet taster menu" which to be frank wasn't anything special, after dinner we were still hungry and retreated back up to our room to eat a packet of crisps I found in my bag. After what was not such an enjoyable night (still feel sick after paying £8 for a bottle of beer and a diet coke) we looked forward to our full cooked breakfast and a walk around the grounds. Well I was sadly disappointed as the grounds had a very eerie and quite frankly depressing feel and our walk lasted 10 minutes. To top it all off they tried to charge us £30 for two glasses of champagne which were actually meant to be free and part of our voucher. Very disappointed overall, not the romantic break away they advertise.

We spent one night at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. A wonderful character full property in a romantic, loch-side location.

Food and service were wonderful. This is a great place to chill out and be cosy with your romantic other half. Our room, Cuaig, was warm and inviting.

Room Tip: Check out the website which has decent descriptions of every room
