Description: Situated in the picturesque village of Tayvallich on the shores of Loch Sween, the Inn overlooks the beautiful natural harbour of Tayvallich bay. At the heart of this small and vibrant community, the Tayvallich Inn has always been a popular meeting place for sailors, holidaymakers, more recently kayakers and all who enjoy our warm hospitality and good food. Established over 30 years ago, the Tayvallich Inn specialises in fresh, locally caught seafood, much of which is landed on our doorstep from the cold, pristine waters of the sound of Jura. Along with seafood we serve other fresh produce, sourcing locally where ever possible.

I really enjoy following the Crinin Canal. Which you must do to reach this restaurant. We drive down to Tayvallich on a one-lane road along Loch Sween. It is in a naturally protected harbor and so peaceful. The restaurant is light and cheerful, overlooking the loch. And are we in for a treat. J had moules marinieres, the best ones he has had in several years. They are red and very fresh. Then he had haddock and chips, also excellent.

Presentation is excellent and the food is also excellent. The daily specials menu is inventive also. I started with a smooth liver pate with brandy, a green salad and an onion marmalade to die for. I could eat that alone for a starter! I had the hot seafood curry with the fish cooked to the absolute point of perfection with saffron rice. It had excellent flavours. The fish were Sound of Jura scallops, calimari rings, mussels, salmon and a sweet light fish-all perfectly cooked. We both were full and passed on desert.

The service was attentive and our whole meal with a glass of wine and service was L39.85.
