Stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed our visit. Colette and Steve were very welcoming and so helpful and informative about the area. They have a huge selection of books and magazines about the local area and beyond. The laminated ordnance survey map for our own use was inspired and very useful. Our room was beautiful with a lovely en suite and the guest lounge was perfect. Breakfast was superb and one of the highlights was Colette's homemade granola and yogurt. We would love to go back as soon as we can.

We'd booked to stay here for one night, on the way from Edinburgh to the Isle of Mull. However this venue was so good - the room was spacious with bathroom facilities which outshone most of the 5 star hotels we've stayed in - that we booked a further 2 nights later in the week. The weekend cooked breakfast was delicious but the continental breakfast was equally delicious and filling (Colette makes many of the items presented herself). We didn't use the guest lounge much ourselves but it is comfortable and provides a plethora of local information, what you can't find there, regarding local information, can be found on the bedroom landing. Steve is an informative host and nothing is too much trouble.

We spent two nights at The Stables in beautiful Achnamara. This was our first B & B experience in Scotland and Steve & Colette certainly set the bar high. The room was spacious and comfortable, the setting was beautiful, the food lovely, but it was our hosts that really made this experience exceptional. Steve is very knowledgeable about the history and attractions of the area and has an obvious love for nature. We were greeted on arrival by Tia and Murphy, the friendly family dogs and were made to feel very much at home.

Our room had some nice extras including bathrobes and slippers as well as a pitcher of ice water each evening. Skylights allowed a wonderful view of the beautiful starlit sky. With our window open we were able to listen at night to the amorous sounds of the stags that were in rut. This would last for about 30 min and was fascinating. We were fortunate to see a lmagnificent stag one evening at dusk as we made our way back to the Stables. There is also a very comfortable common sitting room with a fireplace, selection of CD's and a number of books. It is in this room that a continental breakfast is provided each weekday morning. This was beyond any continental breakfast we had ever seen with fresh bread, croissants, yogurt, homemade jams and fresh fruit. On the weekend Colette provided a lovely hot breakfast that was equally lavish.

We found this location to be great for exploring the area. It is a short drive to Kilmartin to visit the museum there and to see the many standing stones, cairns, and stone circles in the area. We also enjoyed a walk along the Crinan Canal and meals at the Crinan hotel and also at the hotel in Cairnbaan.

We would certainly recommend The Stables and hope to stay there again sometime.

It’s a place to get away from it all and is a quite sleepy place. Tucked away and secluded. Beautiful landscapes and scenery. Breakfast was great wonderful selection. Steve and Colette are very nice hosts. Not many people mention the too much about the room quality on trip advisor which is odd because for me the room made it. Big room all brand new fixtures and fittings skylight above your bed so you can watch the stars and a blind when you don’t to see them anymore. It was a surprise to see a sky box did not have all channels but you don’t come here for TV, it was just nice to have for that hour or so in the eve. Room was neutrally decorated and linen was of good quality. Everything was of good quality. Communal lounge was very nice a lot of wood and very modern. Log burner also in lounge. Very good quality in general. They provide maps and information.

It would have been nice to have had set things of what happens on what days as I found myself piecing things together and a little lost with where to go or what to do. but they are not tourist information and I should have done more planning

Thanks for being so welcoming

David and Jen

The hosts, Steve and Colette, are very friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to provide individual help for the kind of holiday you want - be it completely relaxed or highly active,,, or anywhere in between! The accommodation is roomy, comfortable, very tasteful with wonderful oak doors. Breakfasts are delicious including fresh fruit, fresh bread, croissants and home-made preserves! At the weekend, there is a delicious full cooked breakfast available. There is a guest lounge for relaxing, reading (books and up-to-date magazines), listening to music or watching the wildlife appearing outside the window. There is free wi-fi access - a great boon for business or leisure! Beds are comfortable, towels and bath-robes sumptuous, TV, DVD, tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room. Steve has provided a very comprehensive set of information about the area - its history, wildlife, places to eat nearby (including local seafood), places to visit, activities available, along with comprehensive maps to help explore. He has a comprehensive knowledge to back this up, particularly relating to the beaver trial in the area. This part of Argyll is full of historical and archaeological interest with sites to visit; the Crinan Canal and its traffic provides picturesque interest, there are secluded bays and beaches and there is a great network of walks and cycle routes in the area. The location provides a good base for exploring north towards Oban and south into Kintyre....

We spent a week exploring and only scratched the surface! All in all, a great place to stay off the beaten track, but within easy reach

We stayed overnight for 2 separate nights on our way to and from the Jura ferry.
The Stables is immaculate.
The bedroom was well equipped and comfortable and use of the sitting room just made it all the more luxurious. The location is tranquil and unspoiled.
The owners were friendly but not intrusive and the breakfast marvellous. There is a comprehensive selection of maps books and information for the local area.
We will certainly go back and hopefully for longer.
