As one of the five who stayed here for 4 days in June (see Gerry's review below) I would echo his positive comments. This was a great base for our wee adventure in this area. Hosts were great, with a good sense of humour and lots of helpful advice. Breakfast was probably one of the best cooked breakfasts I have ever had in Britain. Certainly my first choice when I visit this area in the future.

Don't be put off by the name, read the story of the Empire cinema, and be happy that you have found a modern guest house with en-suite bathrooms and a pleasant dining room. Based on the menu in the room we decided to eat elsewhere but might have made a mistake because the specials on the board in the dining room looked tempting. The breakfast was excellent, and our bikes were securely locked in a shed overnight. Excellent value.

Five ( one couple and three singles) of us spent four days here in June. Jim and Ele were excellent hosts and we really appreciated their humour and down to earth approach. Breakfasts were wonderful and we had one evening meal which was first class and very reasonably priced. Rooms are large and hall have en suite.
Great location for touring and walking and Jim and Ele gave us lots of useful information about the area. No hesitation in recommending the Empire Travel Lodge.

We stayed two nights with Jim and Ellie as a stop over to and from Islay. Can't fault them. Great service, spotless rooms and tastey home cooked food - excellent value for money. Will stay again for sure if we're up that way.

Arrived in Lochgilphead for a overnight stop. Asked in local shop and he suggested here! Impression from outside was ok! Not great, but glad we stopped here, room was spacious and very comfortable. Didn't opt for evening meal as we were both very tired do it was a quick shower and cup of tea then relax in bed watching the TV. Bed was very comfortable so sleep wS no problem, TV was slight on the small side for us, but adequate, breakfast was very nice and dinning room was well laid out. If you every plan to stop on Lochgilphead or just find yourself here and need accommodation this is recommended.

We arrived off a bus on a wet evening and were slightly late for the set meal. But Jim and Ele gave us a warm welcome and the time to sort ourselves out before eating. The room was comfortable and quiet. Although it's called a "travel lodge", it's more like a traditional guest house (the building uses to be an cinema). Breakfast was good, and then Ele went the extra mile in letting us leave our bags at the hotel for an hour or so while we went for a stroll and organised our next stop. Very much recommended.
