We stayed there one night in September 2013: it was our first night in Scotland and it was just lovely. It was quite difficult to find, or at least it was a long drive from Glasgow, but we arrived just at dusk. The weather wasn't great, so it was a little hard to see the beauty that surrounded the location. The room was comfortable - and it was the only place in our 12 day tour that we were met with fresh homemaking! Breakfast was delicious and hearty and we enjoyed the open fire in the breakfast room and bird feeders right outside the large windows. Very nice. Such a beautiful part of the country - longing to return!

I stayed at Heatherbank Guesthouse for 3 nights from 25th October 2013.

I visit west and north Scotland at least once a year (wildlife watching and photography) but I had not visited Ardnamurchan for many years. Therefore a visit was well overdue and my Google search for accommodation led me to the website of Heatherbank Guesthouse. This quickly became my first choice selection.

I initially contacted Pippa and John by e-mail regarding availability and I was immediately impressed by the speedy and friendly response.

Heatherbank Guesthouse is located just outside Strontian and is an ideal base to travel around the remote and beautiful Ardnamurchan peninsula. It is very easy to find given the detailed directions on Pippa and John's website.

The property itself is just superb situated in a stunning location surrounded by wonderful scenery. Pippa and John are excellent hosts and a good source of local knowledge if you are unfamiliar with the area. My room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm and this and the waiting homemade cake made my return each night especially welcoming.

I can not recommend Heatherbank Guesthouse too highly. If I could give 6 stars out of 5 for my review then I would. It is definitely on my "must visit again" list for when Ardnamurchan next features on my itinerary.

For anyone interested in wildlife, and in particular some of the Scottish specialities such as Golden Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Scottish Wildcat, Pine Marten and Otter, then you must visit Ardnamurchan .... and if you visit Ardnamurchan you must stay at Heatherbank Guesthouse!

We stayed three nights in this beautiful, remote location, where Pippa and John have created a wonderfully welcoming guest house. Our twin-bedded room with ensuite facilities was extremely comfortable, and we loved the informality of coming and going as we pleased, whether or not our hosts were at home. There are so many delicious breakfast choices we would have needed a longer stay to try them all. We had the full Scottish breakfast each day, and certainly didn't need lunch! We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeders outside the breakfast room window each morning, with mountain views in the background. There were lots of little touches that really made the visit for us - including delicious homemade cakes when we returned to our room after each day's adventures. (For walkers and nature lovers, there is the most beautiful oak woodland nearby).

Just a one night stopover but all facilities excellent, room so fresh and breakfast
Delicious. Lovely matching china and homemade jams. Many extra touches - not
To mention hens wandering around ready to supply the breakfast eggs .
Ps. Vastly superior to more expensive hotel in Skye where we stayed later.

We've just spent 8 days here and could have stayed forever. The hosts, Pippa & John, are so very friendly and helpful and full of local knowledge. We were presented with delicious freshly baked cakes with our afternoon tea every day and every day they were different. The breakfast room is a delight with wonderful views over the garden (where birds feed in abundance) and on over the majestic mountains. The food at breakfast is quite simply fabulous - you must try every option if you have time. Our family room was amply roomy enough for the 3 of us, extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean and finished off with fresh flowers every day. Our bathroom had a shower with loads of available hot water all the time. There is a variety of food available in the evenings with the friendly Ben View hotel ( a few minutes drive) serving up local fare in an informal atmosphere, the Ariundel centre providing unusual local produce which was delicious (a short walk away) and the café Sunart in Strontian is worth a go for lunches. A word to the wise - take a vehicle which has some ground clearance as the local roads are pretty bumpy and uneven and can be narrow in places. If you're looking to stay in this area then Heatherbank is the one to pick.

We were brought to this place by accidental overbooking in other guesthouse. And we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The owners are super nice, the atmosphere is amazing. Trough the windows you can see mountains so in the morning you can stay meditating for hours with morning coffee. The room itself is also super, so you get Quality hotel and home mixture. We also like to eat and breakfast here was like cherry on the top. They let you choose of what you would like to have for breakfast, portions are big and the food is great.

My Mum and Dad stayed at Heatherbank with my son for 3 nights and were very happy with the stay. The hosts were very nice and helpful and the room well appointed and clean.

It is a bit out of Strontian though.
