“Fantastic stay.”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

What a great place to have a break. Location is fantastic and very relaxing but the family owned hotel is filled with such a great atmosphere - that's what makes it a great place. They are fun and very hospitable. Hotel is clean and comfortable, food and service was fantastic and the welcome and service we received was brilliant. It made our trip away with friends a great stay and we are already planning coming back next year, and they are dog friendly so added bonus. Well worth a visit. I would highly recommend.

Thank you very much for such an encouraging and positive review. The staff and I are glad you enjoyed you stay with us and that you are planning to return to our humble abode next year.

It will be lovely to welcome you again and hopefully we will have managed to make further improvements to the fabric of the building by then.

Wishing you a speedy return

Kind regards

We had our wedding reception at the picturesque Brander Lodge and it was wonderful. The staff went out of their way to accommodate the needs of all of our guests and were warm and friendly. The food was outstanding and was made with local produce. The overall atmosphere was ambient and joyful and we are so grateful that Brander Lodge made our wedding so memorable.

Thank you for your kind review. What a joy it was to cater for a Local Wedding and in particular for two very special people, I am so glad you gave us the opportunity to help make your special day such an enjoyable one. Gosh even the weather!!!! rain the day before and the day after.
You two made our job so much easier requesting such a casual arrangement with a carvery buffet and no formal seating order, taking into account that our facilities currently are two small for 80 guests in any one set area.
Your concept was fun, relaxed and extremely enjoyable from both your guests outlook and our own. You have given us food for thought now for future occasions until we get that fab new Conservatory Dining/Lounge/Function Room we are planning.

Once again thank you for taking the trouble to review your experience with us.

Kind regards

The great staff helped us very late to a superb late night dinner. I suspect the trout wasn't in stock anymore, but without saying they presented salmon dish :). Thanks again, and we will be there to visit Scotland again soon I hope.

Thank you for your acknowledgement via Tripadvisor Review it is much appreciated. We have a desire to feed people when they require it and it is paying off. We would never turn a vary diner away as we have the stock, the facilities and the time to do it with living on the premises and having a can do aptitude.
By the way your Trout was Trout and not Salmon, it is farmed Sea Trout from the DawnFresh Farm on the local Loch Etive. These fish are grown large and with what they are fed have a pink coloured flesh just like Salmon with the exception of (Personal Preference) more flavour. We have the large 4 kilo fish delivered fresh and fillet and bone them ourselves.
We are fortunate rurally situated where we are in Argyll Scotland to be surrounded by the finest produce available and an abundance of seafood.

So glad you enjoyed your experience.

Kind regards

Travelling north, we tried The Loch Awe Hotel for lunch but were told that it was "a coach hotel" and as all the coaches were out on trips, there was no lunch. Next stop was The Brander Lodge which had prominent " Meals served all day" signs, but this didn't stop yours truly enquiring of the New Zealand proprietor as to whether they were serving lunch. He gravely shook his head Private Fraser fashion, but of course, the joke was on me and this was a delightful, humorous start to a lovely, relaxing lunch. As it was a hot summer's day, we opted to eat in the garden to the rear of the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed two superbly cooked dishes.

Thank you for your review, "Private Fraser" now that's a new one I usually get Basil Fawlty haha I really must watch my approach though as not everyone has a sense of humour and it can easily backfire, but Hey Ho life is too short to take it seriously.
So glad you made use of the beer garden (Argyll's Best Kept Secret) tucked away out the back it is such a lovely relaxing garden and well planned out by past owners I must add, my job in our tenure is to enhance and keep it looking good. I am also glad you enjoyed the meals and have passed your review as I do with all, onto the staff.

Much appreciated and I hope we see you again when ever back up in this beautiful area.

Kind regards

David

This was our second visit to Brander Lodge and both times I have found it to be a home from home with a very relaxed atmosphere. Nothing is too much bother for the staff and they always take the time to chat and are genuinely interested in their guests. The food was also excellent, with large portion size too. I'm getting married at nearby St. Conan's Kirk next year and have now booked Brander Lodge to have the wedding reception! I know we'll be back before then and look forward to our next visit.

Thank you for your review and positive thoughts, we are looking forward to hosting your Wedding and hope we can turn on a brilliantly sunny day for you also.
St Conans Kirk is a stunning Church and with such a breathtaking outlook sited on the edge of Loch Awe, the gardens and grounds are also beautiful and with Kilchurn Castle in the distance will make for fine photos.
Please drop in anytime when passing and thank you once again for the kind review.

We had been camping and decided on some comfort for our breakfast, although we were too late for other places on our route and turned away. The owner of the brander lodge welcomed us in and sat us down for a very tasty plate of scrambled eggs on toast, with locally sourced smoked trout on the side, and a cup of tea! Just what we needed, all of which was offered with a friendly smile and some fun chat. Lovely place, we would definitely recommend :)

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge our service. It was my pleasure to see that you has some hearty fair after a cold night camping and I am glad our signs bought you into the Brander Lodge. We have always had the thoughts that as we live on the premises we would cater all day for any travelers in guests in need and it does work. Outside of chefs hours I enjoy the wee change of doing some cooking. We also do lunch rolling on into dinner daily from Noon to 10pm and find that discerning travelers are taking to the service well especially mid to late afternoon.

Thanks again for calling in and giving us the opportunity and also for your unexpected but very much appreciated review.

Kind regards

After reaffirming our wedding vows at St Conans Kirk, Loch Awe on 15/06/2013, we decided to have a meal for family and friends at this hotel and WOW David, the owner and his staff certainly pulled out all the stops to make this a very special day indeed.
Nothing was a problem and they set the dinning room out in a very intimate and beautiful way.
The meal was first class and well presented and his attention to detail was evident throughout the day. Several of the party stayed over and raved about the hotel setting and gardens and the way they were looked after.
We enjoyed the experience so much we had to return for lunch later in the week before returning home and again found the food and hospitality second to none.
A massive thanks to David and his staff look forward to seeing you again soon. Jim & Ishbel

Thank you for giving us the opportunity of catering for your special occasion, it is social gatherings such as your vowel renewing that give our days a pleasant change and we all enjoy making someones day special. One day we will have a beautiful big function room which will be almost alfresco style leading onto the beautiful garden and lawn to the south facing rear of the building and we will be doing grand Weddings also. It was lovely to have you call back in for lunch and we take this opportunity of wishing you a happy and fulfilling future.

Kind regards
