I booked this Hotel for a night on my way to the Isle of mull on the 4/8/13. From the moment we arrived and greeted by Angela a lovely pleasant woman we new we would enjoy our stay. Well the room we were given was large clean and well appointed with En -suite. We were hungry after the 300 odd mile journey so we went down into the bar and got a drink then decided to have a meal. Well the food came and was absolutely beautiful and the desert was to die for. The next morning the Scottish breakfast was really tasty and well presented as well. Will stay here again when next up in Oban and Mull without a doubt. Top marks *****

We had supper here on two evenings and enjoyed good-sized mains and good deserts on both occasions. There was friendly service, but the ambiance was only so-so; and the piped music a definite drawback.

Second visit this time, with hard to please hubby! We were greeted and seated promptly with drinks in the pleasant bar area, orders taken and the starters of scallops and chicken liver pâté arrived. Hubby said his scallops were awesome and my pâté was lovely too. Mains arrived hubby's locally sourced venison burger with proper homemade chips were devoured quickly and my gin and tonic battered haddock with chips was enormous ( I had to take some home for the doggies) highly recommend that you pay a visit to this delightful inn, bill including drinks came to £45 which we thought was very reasonable for quality and quantity. Service and staff excellent. Just a little request for your sweet desert menu, Scottish Crannock would have finished meal off perfectly although button on jeans might of needed loosening !

We stopped there for lunch on our way to Oban, and the staff could not have been more gracious, more smiling, more helpful. The food was excellent and served very quickly. I do not not know about the hotel part but would recommend as a place to stop for lunch. The staff is actually from the area. Many other places we stopped at during our vacation the staff was not from Scotland and did not know the area.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night last week as we had heard that it had changed hands and had been modernised. There are improvements but there is still a way to go based on the room that we were given which was at the top of the hotel and was rather basic. There was a shortage of hot water and when I switched on the shower early in the morning the noise was like an engine starting up and continued throughout the shower's use.
On a positive note the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was acceptable.

Room Tip: Look for a lower level room.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give feedback on your stay at Taynuilt Hotel your are correct in saying the hotel is a work in progress as we have only just purchased the hotel in December 2012 and reopened it in march 2013 and it is still an on-going refurbishment.
we hope you chose to stay with us again if so please specify that you would prefer a room on the first floor and of any changes we can make to the room to make it less "basic" for you.
