We called in here twice during our stay in Tighnabruaich, once for a really nice snack lunch and once just for coffee. Both times the service was efficient and friendly and the food very nice. It is hard to have just coffee, as the home made cakes look completely delicious and we were certainly tempted, but were eating too much so managed to resist. The bistro looks really nice in this pretty little village, with outside seating being well used in the hot sun while we were there. A rightly popular spot.

Stopped here for lunch. The decor is very strange, tasteless and dated. The male in charge seemed decidedly odd as we sat down. He just stared at us wildly without any welcome at all or acknowledgement. The place was empty and we should have realised why.
We were hungry so decided to try it. The meal that we had both starters and main were appalling. No cooking or professional skills at all in evidence.. The food was cold though cooked, just, and we had to send both back to the kitchen. The glasses were dirty and he got our drinks order mixed up. When we pointed this out he merely shrugged his shoulders. The cutlery and crockery were dated chipped and not very clean .The whole place reeked of decline smelt damp.
We decided to cut our losses and asked for the bill. Again it was wrong and we had been overcharged. Got it amended after much sighing and a long wait.
This is obviously a place run by amateurs and it shows. They should leave the food business and stick to selling the cheap tourist trinkets I suggest.

Burnside has been excellent value since it opened almost ten years ago. The menu is well-balanced and the food is excellent. The internal decor is very interesting and the staff are first rate. Another must visit restaurant when in Cowal.

We couldn't possible comment on the food or cleanliness of this establishment, hence the average marks for food and cleanliness, as when we entered, even although there was only 1 table occupied, we were advised by a strange and off-hand waiter that there would be no table available for 2 hours??? i got the impression that we perhaps weren't dressed to his taste, but would like to advise that as my husband works for the oil and gas industry, we have eaten in far better looking establishments than this. We passed by about and 40 minutes later and the tables were still empty, good luck with your business with that attitude.

Visited the bistro on a very rainy Monday in July!
We were dropped off by the waverly and were very worried about what to do in such a quiet village, on a Sunday in the pouring rain. Stumbled across this bistro and instantly felt welcome!
The food was good, if a little on the expensive side given what we ordered. Service was very quick, and was presented nicely. However the young girls who were waitressing are a real credit to this place! Very friendly, polite, hard working and organised. Well done girls for providing such professional customer service and making our visit a good one!!! :)
