“Great new cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2014

Just off the route from Portavadie Ferry Terminal to Tighnabruaich and onwards to Loch Lomond & Glasgow, this is a great find.

Wonderful food, great surroundings and really welcoming staff. Short menu with locally sourced specialities and home baking.

We recently had a large party come up to Argyll from London for a weekend and The Barn catered for them splendidly.

“Splendid Lunch!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

This is a great place for lunch or a snack while exploring Cowal. I dropped in for lunch after a walk to the beach at Ostell Bay (Kilbride). The welcome is friendly and the menu is well judged, making good use of locally sourced produce. My meal was very tasty and well presented. There is also a small gift shop.

The Barn is well worth the short drive from Tighnabruaich or Kames. Note that it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

“Best in the area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

The Barn was the best place we found for eating out. For lunch, we had soup, hot filled rolls, cake and coffee. Everything was fresh, home made and delicious. Service is excellent. The Barn is by far the best in the area for quality and good value. Nothing else comes close. Will not disappoint!

“Friendly, cosy and great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014

Stopped here for lunch after reading reviews and really enjoyed it. We had bobbed in for takeaway coffees as our 3 year old was aleep in the car and the staff were really friendly. We returned an hour later and were offered three lovely areas to choose from to sit in - conservatory, snug with wood burner and more of a family area with a children's toy corner (chosen by our 3 year old for obvious reasons...)- with a variety of comfy seats. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the food was lovely. We had a BLT, haggis and goats cheese and a cheese sandwich. The staff even brought out cucumber pieces and baby tomatoes for our daughter. The whole experience was lovely and relaxing and we will will definitely return when we are next in the area.

“Lovely lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

We had a lovely lunch at The Barn today - homemade soup, sandwiches, quiche and Ploughmans were all excellent and followed by a good cup of coffee and some delicious cakes. Staff were friendly and welcoming and service was great. A lovely day made this bright and sunny little place all the lovelier but I can imagine it being a very welcome refuge on a wet day too. It has a nice little craft shop to browse in as well as a big garden with outdoor seating - the nicest place we've eaten in this week on our holiday.
