very disappointed with both the room and the food. The room was a 'superior' one according to the discription, we thought it was small, very ordinary and nothing special at all. All the bed linen had seen better days, although it was clean. The menu was very limited indeed and the food we did have was very average to say the least. Such small portions, it's a good job we had bought some snacks from the local shops as we certainly needed them. The younger staff were very pleasant and competent, but overall our stay there was overpriced and very disappointing.

This hotel is the best hotel I've ever stayed in.

Okay so it's not the handiest to get to and there isn't a lot to DO once you get there, but that's part of its charm. The drive to the hotel is magnificent and really lets you unwind to enjoy the:
- Fabulous surroundings
- Amazing food
- Friendly, relaxed, efficient staff
- Incredible unique hotel.

Their sister restaurant in Glasgow's west end offers a taster of how amazing the food is, but nothing could beat the whole experience of this one.

We are always looking for somewhere that has good food nice rooms and a freindly relaxing atmosphere...we have at last found it.

The food was excellant lots of fresh seafood locally caught and Venison, Beef even wild boar all their supplies can be named if not on the menu then ask the staff!!! The care that went into the presentation of the food was stunning.

Our room was room 2 Four poster bed and lovely claw foot bath and along with that sea views waking up to that in the morning was fab.

Yes its not cheap but its well worth it!!!

We stayed at An Lochan for a couple of nights and ate here for both dinners (the village doesn't offer much in these terms).
As some other rewiers wrote we had been attracted by the beautiful web-site and by the promises of great luxury rooms and gourmet-meals.
We were actually looking for a quiet spot to spent a short period, after driving all around Scotland and here we found just what we were looking for:good food, nice hosts (the young guy at the reception is very nice and helpful) and a lot of relaxation.

We had a Superior room with a big window overlooking the sea which was really nice, but we'd have been a little happier if we spent a little less. Also the restaurant was good, but as the room a little too costly.

Overall, the hotel is good as well as the staff, the service and the food and if we have the chance of passing by again in the future we will for sure give it a stop.
