A beautiful setting....a lovely hotel with each room providing an individual style and quirkiness! The service was excellent...the food very good! The staff were attentive without a hint of overfamiliarity and each request was satisfied with conviviality. We were informed that check out was 11am but there was no one hovering around when we were still there at 1130! Would love to go there again!

Beautiful setting, great dinner, recommend the Battered Haddock with REAL Chips! Staff all friendly and attentive. B&B definitely value for money....bedroom a bit small a but great view made up for it. Will be back!

Well, it wasn't quite a storm (yet) but it was getting late and a storm was in the forecast. They offer something like 15 moorings (and thank you for this), but they are all different and not clearly marked. We picked up two only to find that they were private before finding one belonging to the hotel. At 8:30 pm the harassed server did agree to serve us if we were quick. The house white wine was deliciously cold and we were very comfortable on a settee. The soup was thick and just what we needed. The fish and chips got top marks. The curry was still frozen in parts and burning hot in others: microwave?

Thank you to the Kames Hotel for providing a mooring for the night and a good evening meal. The staff were really welcoming, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a starter of a shared portion of Nachos (thanks for the advice not to have the large one!) and the shortcrust pastry steak pie and real chips were a treat - so good not to have puff pastry or fries! Our night on the mooring was a bit bouncy but we can't blame you for the weather and we will be back again soon.

Fantastic time again, location out of this world! once again really good to stay at the kames, hospitality from all the staff is great. Food ticks all the boxes and is very filling. Good to speak with the locals, guests and staff. Nobody knows how relaxing and peaceful this place is until you stay here. Once again thanks for having us stay.

I've stayed here a couple of times. This is a nice little hotel in a lovely spot. I got a single room with a side view of the loch but it was perfect for my requirements. And only £50. The hotel also has a bar and restaurant. But if you can I'd suggest going to Portavadie Marina for dinner which is a short drive or taxi ride away. Very friendly staff.

I‘ve eaten here a few times, because I can put aside the rude staff and cramped atmosphere. The food is good, if a little pricey for what you get. We were in a group of six and waited 30 minutes for a table, without a ‘hello, how are you?‘ - or ‘we‘ll save a the next table for you‘... which was annoying when a couple of local young lads came in and snapped up a table, refused to move, bought 2 pints then sat on their phones texting... No offence, but a table of six people eating and drinking will make you a lot more money than the local text team.

When we finally got our seat... but not before having to force it from someone else who was about to take it... we then have to choose our food and order at the bar... including drinks...
Eventually food arrives. It‘s as good as you‘ll get in Tighnabruiach/Kames unless you want to remortgage your house and go to the Royal An Lochan. I‘d recommend the fish and chips... trust me... don‘t venture off in this place... stick to a safe fish n chips. Fresh fish, but sadly frozen pees and chips... and a semi palatable tartar sauce - but all tastes ok. What happened to these little towns, the Scottish food used to be great?

As I said, its a struggle but the food is ok and it seems to be the busiest place in the area, but they could have a better system where its first come first served or even take names of who‘s waiting rather than let people try work it out for themselves because that will blow up in their faces one day. And the staff could be a bit cheerier... I know its tough living in the sticks but for lords sake, crack a smile.

I give them ten out of ten - for being better than the Burnside Bistro - which was just awful.
