“Decent bar meal but too crowded to be relaxing”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

The hotel restaurant was closed so we opted for a bar meal. The dishes we chose were tasty and portions were generous. Service was fairly quick and efficient. However, the bar was busy and we were seated next to a snooker table so it didn't make for a relaxing atmosphere.

We've just had a really pleasant stay at the Kames Hotel. The views of the Kyles of Bute from our bedroom window were stunning. The place is well kept. The meals are top quality pub fare and very reasonable. Where else can you get most main courses under a tenner?. Service is friendly. The place is rightly very popular with the locals as well as tourists. Overall, excellent.

We called in here a couple of times. Once we missed the lunchtime food slot and just had a drink but we returned a few days later and tried the battered haddock. One of the best that I've ever had. We found the pace very friendly and again pets were allowed in the bar.
The bar area has a lot of character and there was a good selection of Ales & Beers. Much better than the selection I usually find in England.
I very enjoyable lunchtime meal and I would highly recommend to all.
We will return again soon - hopefully !!!

We've been a few times. Arriving by boat, we've always been made very welcome. We've always had dinner and breakfast. Staff are great, food excellent and it's very handy for sailors like us to have complimentary moorings available in front of the hotel. The scenery is stunning, great atmosphere in the bar. We will definitely be back

We have only eaten here before but we decided to stay this time. Again we had a great time as did our dog! The food is good and the friendliness in the bar takes a lot of beating. Our room was small but it was advertised as small. Really the only thing we did not totally enjoy was the breakfast as the service was a bit slow and a bit lacking in atmosphere. Maybe for my taste the music could have been a bit louder but I know then some others would complain. We can only recommend the Kames.

A beautiful setting....a lovely hotel with each room providing an individual style and quirkiness! The service was excellent...the food very good! The staff were attentive without a hint of overfamiliarity and each request was satisfied with conviviality. We were informed that check out was 11am but there was no one hovering around when we were still there at 1130! Would love to go there again!
