I was visitng Glasgow and staying with friends for a few days in July 2013 - last week, to be exact.

One of my friends works for the Scottish Forestry Commission, we we took a lovely drive with nice hikes near Portavadie Marina. We stopped for lunch at the Oystercatcher, an hour and a half from Glasgow , one of their favorite restaurants.

On the eastern shore of Loch Fyne, I had to order the local oysters ( Ballimore Oysters £1.50
Local Ballimore Oysters naturally seasoned by Loch Fyne - min order 3 oysters) and the mussels (Loch Linnhe Mussels £6.00 for lunch, £11.00 dinner - In garlic & white wine sauce.

My friends had salads and trhe small children and the batter of the fish and all the chips. :-)

The oysters were fabulous, the mussels - best I have ever had. A wonderful creamy texture and flavour.

You can sit outside - it was a gorgeous warm summer day - there was a heat wave going on last week or inside. We sat outside and had a great walk along the pretty shore.

Highly recommend a drive on the Argyll Secret Coast, stopping here for lunch! After lunch we said goodby to May the friendly lab - who was having his post-lunch nap.

You could almost convince yourself that you are in the med sat near an Italian lake eating fresh mussels and pasta...... But no.... you are in Sunny Scotland! Fabulous pub lunch overlooking the Loch! No need to say more! Great place to visit from land or as we did from water! Well done Oystercatcher!!!

made a few visits to this pub.
Fabulous location, lovely restaurant.
Staff very friendly, service good.
Food good but does not live up to the surroundings.
Would recommend a visit but not just for the food.

We visited The Oystercatcher for lunch and were amazed at the location on the beach, stunning! Their menu was one of the best pub menus I've seen for a while, dishes to suit every taste and the quality of the food was excellent. The local ale added to the perfection. We sat outside as it was a lovely day and only passed through the inside but it looked perfect for a cosy day indoors with logs fires and traditional interior - we will definitely visit again in the winter. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We went for a great walk along the beach after lunch - wonderful views and crystal clear water.
