“Surprisingly superb”
Reviewed 24 July 2011

Our B&B recommended The Waterfront and we were not disappointed. The dealt in getting a table allowed for a walk to sharpen the appetite until the call came. Menu was interesting and quirky, food delicious with generous portions. Just one mistake by the server was quickly corrected. Total bill for 2 mains and shared desert as that was all we could manage was barely 20 quid.

Unfortunately this was our first evening on our trip to Scotland and I doubt this standard will be surpassed.

“My favourite restaurant”
Reviewed 22 July 2011

Of all the restaurants I have eaten in, across all price ranges, this is by far the best. It is small, seating around thirty with comfortable french bistro-ish decor. The owner is also the chef and his wife waits table. The service is very personal and the food is to die for.
The menu is chalked up on the wall and is quite extensive, catering to all tastes. The ingredients are all fresh and everything is well presented. Everytime I visit I have the creme brulee for dessert. It is so good that I cannot bear to try anything else, although my husband has tried and enjoyed everything else on the desert menu.
Prices are very reasonable with starters less than £5, mains around £10-£13 and desserts under £5.
It is worth visiting Bute just to sample the Waterfront!

Brilliant but small bistro on the sea front south end side of the harbour very warm so might not be best for a hot summers day but great food and service

“Warm, welcoming atmosphere with wide range of filling food”
Reviewed 4 July 2011

Small but friendly bistro. Hearty food served by pleasant and accommodating staff. Good range of food, local beers and wine. Can be busy on a Saturday evening and you can't book but they will take your mobile number, send you off for a stroll along the front and phone you when/if a table becomes free.
