“look are deceiving, great homemade wholesome food”
Reviewed 9 September 2011

On our 3rd visit to Bute this was the 3rd time we ate at Ettrick Bay tea room. Yes, its interior is shabby and not the most appealing but the food is very good and great value for money.

Please be sure to try one of the desserts when you go there. There are so many, all which are made on the premises, the best desserts I have ate!!! The lemon merignue is outstanding.

My only criticism would be I prefer to see food being lifted with tongs etc rather than ungloved hands and would like to see containers holding ham etc covered with a lid.

The staff are all friendly and very helpful.

Don't be put off by the interior, because if you are then you are missing out on a real wee gem..

“Bute-iful gem”
Reviewed 16 June 2011

Situated overlooking a beautiful fine white sandy beach with the Mull of Kintyre beyond is a little gem of a cafe/ diner. From the outside camouflged to blend in with the tree line inside is a 60's style diner. The helpful friendly staff bring a varied value packed menu - try the thai spicy soup for starters.
A view to die for , food to arrive for an an atmosphere of community make this place feel like coming home!
And if you've just come off the water from a sea kayak it's a warm oasis at the end of a blustery west coast day.
Long live the Ettrick Bay tearoom- its deserves a wider audience but don't tell too many people - we don't want to spoil it!
