This 5th century chapel was a very important centre of Christianity in its day. There are lots of plaques with information about the history of this place. It's a moderate uphill walk along a well defined dirt path to reach it - not suitable for the disabled. On the way up, turn around and look back at the fabulous view across to the Isle of Arran. Very peaceful and quiet.

A very pleasant short walk in good weather from the carpark to a quiet and interesting ruin in a lovely location. The information boards are perfect.

As we were driving around Bute I saw a sign for St. Blane's and we decided to see how far away it was.

The road is narrow in places and at the end there are a few spots to park.

After a short walk up a hill is the chapel. It is in the middle of farm land and is very secluded. It is so full of history and a lovely quiet place to visit.

This was a wonderful day in glorious sunshine. Got the bus from Rothesay to Kilchattan Bay and walked over the hill to St Blanes Chapel. A ruined Chapel in a peaceful surroundings with great atmosphere. Came back the long way on the West Island way to Garroch Head and Glencallum Bay. Quite rough in places but scenery is breathtaking. Back to Kilchattan Bay to complete the circle. Cafe there for coffees teas ice creams etc. Bus back to Rothesay. Paths are steep and rocky in places but quite well marked with posts but you need a good map to keep you right.

Lovely location and nice walk up to the chapel. Plenty of information on the history. Enjoyed seeing the brand new lambs on the way too.
