Stayed overnight on 17th. Room was great but slightly hot. Bed really comfy. Have rarely come across friendlier or more humerous staff who couldn't do enough for you. In particular the restaurant staff at breakfast. (Must mention Paul, as he, and the rest are a true asset) The evening entertainment, a Mr James Knight, was stunning and performed a West End Musicals set. If only to see him it is worth a visit. Find out the dates he is there and make a point of going. The WHOLE stay was fantastic. Will most certainly go back given the quality that is on offer.

The food was excellent with a good choice of dishes and great taste to suit all and good vegetarian selection

Room Tip: rooms on first floor very comfortable and warm. Nice and quiet hotel with stunning wiews over the ba...

My husband and I are on a coach trip currently staying in a sea view room, the view is absolutely breathtaking. The room is spacious with a very comfy bed and a decent size room.

There is a good variety of meals which are tasty and filling, the waiting staff are very good especially Archie, he is very friendly and polite and interested in his diners.

The bars are reasonably priced and again the bar staff are good, however the bars are not well stocked with glasses especially the cocktail glasses.

Overall it has been a brilliant stay and hope to be back next year.

Glenburn Rothesay Bute - Views stunning - hotel is just average has seen better days.
As you enter Rothesay bay, you will see the imposing Glenburn Hotel on the port side of the ferry, (port is left and starboard is right) set in a lovely position the Glenburn has a superb panorama view across Rothesay Bay to the Cowal Peninsula beyond.
Bute is our family island, with many years of history & loving memories from both our adult & childhood. We have stay in this hotel on many occasions for many reasons, even before arranged coach trip to the island. The hotel has seen better days, however it is very clean, the staff are very welcoming, food is just average for this type of chain hotel, malt whisky stocks are plentiful - happy days, the new ballroom / concert room is normally quite lively even during a weekday, you may even see one of Rothesay finest "Margaret Zavaroni" If you don't see "Margaret" you will certainly see the Zavaroni family fish & chip shops in Rothesay.
Bute is an island paradise with some lovely bays & beaches, just off the west coast of Scotland,
in it's day a mecca for holiday makers, sadly time has caught up with it. Still we can call it home!
Haste ye back! GCD

3. Highland games week "Bute Games"
4. Loch Fad fishing or a game of golf. "ENJOY"

Room Tip: A must! A room to enjoys a superb panorama view across Rothesay Bay to the Cowal Peninsula beyond

Having just returned from a coach holiday to this hotel I thought i would give some feedback. We went for the Standard Plus room which is bigger than the basic. The hotel is very clean and the restaurant serves excellent food. The service is quick and you do not have to wait too long to be served. Our waiter Paul was attentive, polite and nothing was too much trouble. The room was a good size and was clean however a tea tray would be a good idea, as the kettle and cups were dripping on to the furniture every time we made drinks. We had a room with a view of the sea which was exceptional. The bar areas should provide coasters, as the consendation from the cold drinks meant that the table was covered in wetness. We and many others had to keep asking for tissues/serviettes to mop up. The entertainment is good and the lounge is comfortable. It would be nice to buy a liquor coffee or other fancy coffee from the bar but they did not serve it after 8.00pm as the other bar closes at this time and they are the only bar that serves coffee. Rothsay is a lovely place and the weather was mostly kind to us.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and a vey good one at that. So glad that you enjoyed your meals and I will pass your kind comments onto Paul and the kitchen staff. Indeed the views from the hotel are fantastic especially if you have a room which over looks the bay nothing to beat it. Thank you for your suggestion on the tea trays in the bedrooms that is something that we can certainly think about. We do actually have cocktail napkins at the bar I will speak to the bar staff as they normally hand these out with your drinks. The down stairs bar doesnt actually close until 9.30pm so you should have be able to get your liquor coffee. Many thanks again for your posting.

Having just spent 4 days at the Glenburn Hotel I have to say that our stay was pleasant, we found the hotel to be lovely and clean, we didn't have a sea view room but the views from the bar and lounge area are spectacular. The staff in the dining room were very friendly and efficient, (well done staff) the menu had plenty of choices and the food was of good quality, infact very tasty, the hotel is in an ideal location for the town centre, just a short stroll away, The entertainment was alright, something different each night, I was quite impressed that the hotel had wi fi in the lounge areas, Overall a very nice hotel, full of character, and friendly staff. Well worth a visit to this hotel, and to discover the beautiful Isle of Bute.

We have just returned from a 4 day coach holiday at the Glenburn hotel and I must say that first impressions do not do this hotel any favours as we entered the reception area my wife and I were shocked at the state of the general décor of the walls paintwork and carpets if as the management have stated in previous reviews that upgrading is taking place the reception area surely should have been first to be upgraded as I think first impressions are important. However our time spent at the hotel was ok the lounge and bar areas are spacious and therefore relaxing but some of the seating is rather dated. Our sea view room had been upgraded with a new bathroom suite although the flat screen t.v. left a lot to be desired only 4 channels available and although there was plenty of storage and wardrobe space it was of a mahogany finish and looked dated the beds were spotless and comfortable and Kate our room maid kept the beds tidy and renewed our towels as and when necessary. the best of this hotel is in the food supplied the breakfasts are really good the choice at this standard of hotel cannot be faulted the same has to be said for the dinner menu one fault however the service although ok is very frenetic there must be some sweat lost in that kitchen.Over all its as I have stated in the title you get what you pay for, pity about the décor P.S. Rothesay is horrible its a tip when we got off the ferry and looked at the sea front we wanted to get back on and return to the main land we will certainly not return sorry if that offends but that's how we saw it.

Room Tip: Book an upgraded sea view room
