My friend and I went to the Glenburn last weekend to celebrate our 65th birthdays and had a
wonderful weekend. The weather was not very good but the entertainment at the hotel was
excellent. On the Friday they had an Elvis night which was great and on the Saturday it was a
tribute night which featured Gene Pitney my all time favourite and Roy Orbison. The resident
entertainment team are wonderful and encourage you to get up and dance to there wonderful
music.
All the staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful and the food is very good as is the
service.

Well done to all at the Glenburn

Marion S

This hotel is fabulous to look from the out side but you get into the building and it is in badly need of decorating and it is only that ,that is letting this beautiful building down.
We found the staff very good the food was fantastic and the views from some of the rooms window breathtaking. The towns people were very friendly and helpful and if you go you must take the paddle boat ride the scenes are to die for.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. As you will have seen it is a massive building and it we do have a refrubishment plan in place but it takes time. Many thanks for your lovely remarks about the food and the staff we do appreciate them. Glad you enjoyed the Waverley paddle steamer it is a great way to get to see the island and all the surrounding scenery. Once again thank you.

Just spent 4 days at the Glenburn on a Shearings break and must compliment all concerned. All staff starting with Steve, (our main coach driver), all hotel staff, the staff on the ferry from Wemyss Bay and the local pubs, in particular The Taverna, were great, very friendly and very helpful. This hotel boasts a great location, has wonderful grounds and gardens and your main piece of luggage was taken to the room for you.

Considering how busy the hotel was there were no long waiting times for the lifts at all. In the hotel good quality entertainment is available every night, or there are quiet areas if you simply want to relax or get some 'own-space' time. The food was very good in the main and although the porridge was great it was a bit of a shame that no 'Scottish breakfast' was on offer.

Square sausage, black pudding and 'tattie scones' might not be great for the heart every day, but as a holiday treat would probably have changed my rating from 'Very Good' to an 'Excellent'. Regardless of this minor observation this was a very good break and the hotel is highly recommended.

Room Tip: Sea views are very popular and tend to go first but all rooms are to a very good standard according to all the people I spoke to.

Many thanks for posting your thoughts on our site. By all acoounts you have enjoyed your stay with us and we really do apperciate your great comments. As you will see from other posting the views over the bay are mentioned a lot so I would recommend paying the little extra for them. Look forward to seeing you again in the not to distant future.

A spectacular place to spend a weekend. Four of us travelled to the Isle of Bute on 1st August, 2014. I for one had looked forward to it for 7months since booking. It didn't disappoint. The staff were helpful & friendly. The rooms were spotless. I had a sea view, to my surprise, & delight.. The food was delicious & plenty of choice. The waiting staff were so busy yet efficient. We had a very smooth crossing from Wemyss Bay & had no difficulty spotting the hotel with its superb elevated position, from the ferry. We were very impressed with Mount Stuart, also the Visit Scotland Centre with DVD's showing & seating provided.

Staying here to accompany my mother and her friend for a few days - and as the hotel caters a lot for coach holidays we were probably the youngest guests by about 30 years!
Although it is a fine, grand building, the most imposing in the town, it is not a 5-star, gourmet, all-the-frills hotel - but it doesn't pretend to be. It is orderly, clean, comfortable and the food is perfectly good - for £90 for three nights' bed, breakfast and evening meal it isn't much more expensive than staying at home!
So all in all, a very good value hotel offering all that you need for an enjoyable break. If you're after luxury, stay somewhere else rather than put negative reviews on here.
Oh and a special mention to Archie, who was our waiter - a very cheerful chap amid his rushing about, and we enjoyed his service very much.
