This was by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in! The best by miles with National holidays and the best in its catagory out of the rest! The staff especially the manager were friendly, polite, welcoming and did everything to make your stay memorable for all the right reasons :D. The hotel being in Scotland was the icing on the cake, fab! The food was lovely, the best lasagne in Britain haha (found in Arrochar). I think the negative reviews on here must be getting mixed up with another hotel because if you choose the Claymore in Arrochar your getting the best....best price, service, food, views, etc. STAY HERE

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a loch view or if you can't manage stairs ground floor as theres no lift

We booked this holidays through national holidays n it was awesome experience for us....
Me my wife n our 3 frnds were stay in this hotel frm 18th nov -21nov n we enjoyed every bit of it...let me start with senic views- I requested the room with lake view facing n they gave me one.... So guys if u r looking. For good bigger spacious senic view with a bath tub u need to book room 001....we had 3 rooms 001,002 & 525.....the rooms are good value for money....
The location of this hotel is amazing as it is just opposit to the lake... It's very beautiful through out the day.... The weather is awesome & chilly....beautiful greenery.....
About the breakfast they had very good range for breakfast... But as our group was vegetarian they had special veg sausages with baked beans....variety in juices.... Lastly a very special thanks to Rachel who made our stay very good.... She was very friendly in welcoming us the day of arrival I requested vegetarian food... Which she promised to serve us in our entire stay.... It people like Rachel who makes u feel like coming back to hotel again....
The entertainment was very nice there people who sing some small kids who perform scotish traditional dance for charity....bingo.... followed by free 3 hours bar.... The people who are very very..... Very young at heart....." Guys I miss u all" n sorry to write so late.... As I promised to all I m gonna post some pictures of all of u !!!!!
N if u can't remember me then the best way is a man with camera who loved u all !!!!
Last but not least a special thanks to all the staff from Claymore hotel n thanks to national holidays for showing us heaven on earth "A Beautiful Scotland "

Hello everyone who travelled with National Holidays from 5/12/11 - 09/12/11, its the weather girls here! There were some excellent points to this holiday - one being our driver, Ron who is an excellent driver through all I can describe as adverse weather conditions!! Ron also had a fantastic sense of humour and an infectious laugh!
The staff in the hotel are also worth a mention as they are friendly and efficient, particularly in the dining room.
The location of the hotel (facing Loch Long) is great!
My room was small but adequate and I didn't like the idea of a sheet, blanket and throw - duvets are preferable. Also, the pillows had no pillow protection which I didn't like neither, that said, they were immaculate.
The food was plentiful but basic. The free bar was great and so was the entertainment each night!

Overall, we had a great holiday, plenty of laughs and met some lovely people.

Room Tip: Pay the supplement for a Loch View

Birthday treat for myself and my partner! wasnt the treat we expected, the brochure and the photos make it look like a real retreat but in reality it is grotty, dismal, in desperate need of a decorate and the food is like something a 6yr old would serve up (Wafer thin meat, slimy frozen carrots and a salad consisting of lettuce and an egg). We have stayed in a few hotels with National Holidays and although some have been slightly ropey they are by no way as bad as this one. The damp feeling in the older side of the hotel smells of wet dogs and the carpets are vile. We decided not to go on any of the inclusive trips as the driver known as Dave with National Holidays was miserable, irritable and very very rude to my partner as we got off the coach once home (not happy). On a brighter note we met some fantastic people who we will remain in touch with and they made the weekend well worth it and enjoyable thank goodness because after a 10hour trip we needed a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Room Tip: Newer part of the hotel has better heating

we have just returned from the claymore, we are seasoned travellers and have to say this is definately the worst hotel we have everstayed in, and that is world wide.We had a double room on the ground floor complete with mould on the walls, the bathroom/shower room was just about big enough to clean a budgie, neither of us are obese and had difficulty getting in to the toilet/shower without squeezing up against the sink before we could close the door,The evening meal was just ok, but sharing our table with a stranger with learning difficulties did not enhance the experience. On retiring to bed made up with blankets rather than duvets, we found the aroma of ciggarettes to be overwhelming in the bed.Next morning breakfast was served to us with the same company we had shared our evening meal with, consisting of cold coffee, cold toast, bacon , sausage, half a tomato, and an egg that had been fried to within an inch of its life. the majority of the hotel guests were adults with learning difficulties and thier carers, though how they could care for them when drinking alcohol from the free bar, i am unsure.Due to this it was more like spending a night in a care home, rather than a hotel,Any complaints we made fell on deaf ears to the trainee manager,The hotel on arrival was freezing cold, apparantly due to the booster not working??It is a shame as the hotel is in a beautiful setting, and has obviously been a lovely mansion house in its previous life.We definately can cross this hotel off the list of accomodation to return to.

Room Tip: if you do choose to stay here, you want a room in the oringinal building , not in the extention.

the claymore hotel is situated on the banks of loch long scotland a mere 50 meters from the loch so you get a very good view .On arriving you are greeted by a lovely person she is straight to the point you are here to have fun she was not wronge .for those of you who have not been to scotland before it rains and its cold in the winter time so wrap up well.
the staff are helpful pleasent and nothing is to much trouble for them. The food is not the best i have ever had but its ok for breakfast you have cereals followed by a fryed breakfast. The rooms are just the right size with a telvision and tea and coffe making the bed is not to soft
although the rooms could do with a lick of paint but they are clean the only thing wronge with our rooms was no shower have to get a hand held hose from reception. The entertainment on a night is first class with a game of bingo on accasions too.if you like trips out its not to far from any were realy maybe a coupel of hours at the most plenty to see on the way.my most dissapointing thing for me went to fort william expecting to see a fort it burnt down a century ago oh and never saw nessi either

Room Tip: try to get a room over looking the loch
