I have just retuned from my first 'coach' holiday with National Holidays. I have to admit I was expecting our accommodation to be in a run down draughty old barn of a building, but how wrong can you be ! Admittedly parts of the hotel are in need of refurbishment but everything was absolutely spotless and the heating in the rooms could not have been better. The meals were quite good too. I understand that some guests were not happy with the turkey, (I had haggis that night) The only fault I can find was that the cheese and biscuits could have been better. One of the cheese spreads was contained in a plastic sausage type wrapping and caused a lot of hilarity watching people try to open them. The waitress at our table (12) could not have been more helpful or friendly.

stayed here on a national holidays break. Hotel check in good, booked a room with loch view. Ok nice and warm but bathroom needs refurb. Meals better than some places, though xmas dinner needs more cooking time or not??
entertainment was ok, and at least most people enjoyed the bingo?
enjoyed the time away, and staff are very very good!!
if updated it will be a great place to stay, but at least it is better than some National use.
Drinks ok.

Room Tip: loch view and 2nd floor at least. take toiletries.

We stayed at this hotel from the 8th - 11th November with National Holidays. On arrival we were greeted by Dave on the bus who, created a brilliant first impression of the hotel. If it had been light when we arrived I'm sure Loch Long would have made a equal brilliant first impression, (on seeing the Loch the next morning it made me wish we had paid the extra for the view).
The room was a good size for a twin room and , when I rang reception to report our tv didnt appear to be working, Dave was down in a flash to fix it! The room was cold when we arrived but with the aid of a wall heater and additional electric heater it soon warmed up, (a note about the wall heater - would it be better to have shorter curtains or move it away from that area since it did seem to be a fire hazard - more on this later!)
The meals were all very nice with a few small exceptions - the yorkshire puddings were definitely not made correctly (my mum - true yorkshire woman that she is , offerred to go and teach the chef how to make perfect puds!). i have seen elsewhere here comments about the turkey on christmas dinner evening - yes , I do have to agree , it was tough, and part of it was inedible , which was a shame. Other than these two niggles , the rest of the food was very good , and the waiter service excellent.
Evening entertainment was good although we were disappointed with only one evenings bingo. Saturday night there was a long long gap between the end of dinner and the beginning of the male vocalist spot, it became quite boring at one point, bingo or a quiz would really have helped.
The early hours of Sunday morning (6am), the fire alarm went off - people were safely shepherded to the front of the hotel by ...yes you guessed it ... Dave ! (does this man never sleep?) It turned out to be someone drying their clothes on the wall heater - see earlier comment.
The night before we ordered a premium packed lunch for our journey home. It was very nice and much cheaper than the place we stopped at for lunch on the way home. Again Dave seemed to be the instigator of the packed lunch so thanks Dave , good service.
The national holiday coach driver was brilliant , as they always are , and the trips to Calander and Oban were excellent. I am sure we were lucky with the wonderful weather too which made it all the more wonderful.
All in all, the staff did a very good job, the food mostly was great and the entertainment was good when it was on but needed to be better thought out.
Thank you.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a loch view. You wont regret it.

We just come back from a four day break . The hotel is well dated .even bed and breakfast you will get a shower not given a rubber one to fit on your taps. On Wednesday we got turkey for evening meal well the chef wants to learn how to cook it .very tough.
Entertainment not to bad .
Coach drivers very good. But I thought twelve pounds each was a lot for a trip out ..it was two hours on coach . Hour and half to walk around and two ours back.. No never again for me
All inclusive. Then they ask for fifty pence more for a bottle water. How do you work that out..

Room Tip: One with view of lakes

Many thanks for your comments on trip adviser.
The issues you mention will be dealt with and the issue with the tough food has also been dealt with.
The extra tours that are offered are an option that the drivers lay on and we will be monitoring customer feedback closely.

Just returned from a 2 night break with national holidays. The room was clean and comfortable compared to the room others in our group had but the noise that you could hear on an evening and when you went in after a long days travelling was ridiculous. You could here everything in the rooms above from people stomping around and even going to the Bathroom and inconsiderate guests that do not keep children quite at 4am on a morning! The rooms were also very very small and a twin is more like a single room as your virtualy unable to move around in it. The rooms are also in need of some serious decoration. We also did not take to the cat in reception. One member in our group has a bad chest that is made worse by pets. The cat certainly did not help with this. Also the smokers that tended to gather right outside of the doors that when the doors were opened or if you went out you had to fight your way through all the smoke. This needs rectifying and management need to make sure that all smokers are away from the doors to get to the reception area. The food in the place was ok but certainly nothing to shout home about. Very poor choice of vegetables with the eventing meal and to be honest the best thing I had whilst we were there was the christmas pudding on the saturday evening! The entertainment on an evening was ok and it would have been nice if people in the hotel respected the young dancers that came in to dance for us as all a few people did during this was talk the whole way through. The driver of our coach was great and so were the majority that were on our coach. The trips out were good and would of been even better if the weather would have been better. Overall a good break but seriously this hotel is in need of some tender loving care.

Room Tip: If I was to go back to this hotel I would want a top floor room as to not have all the noise from ot...

My wife and I stayed 8/9/10 november long weekend we had a great time, food was very good and well presented and no waiting to get served. The room was a good size but would have prefered a Lock view (£20 to upgrade but worth it) the bed however I thought was a bit hard but I haven't slept that good for a long time. The hotel staff were first class no long queues at the free bar.In the restaurant you are allocated a table when you arrive and that is your table for the entire stay. The entertainment was pretty good as well a lot better than some we have had in the past. We went with National Holidays on a bargain deal and we got a lot more than we expected and we would go again

Room Tip: a room with a lock view if available
