“Great!”
Reviewed 3 December 2012

it's taken me 3 months to get round to writing this review but here we go:

I paid about £1100-1200 for the cabin + extras such as unlimited films, wifi, barbecue, english and contintal breakfast etc etc. We stayed for a week and really enjoyed it. We stayed in cabin 4 a Golden Oak. The cabin is amazing - hot tub definitely the best thing: always very warm, different settings. I understand other peoples complaints when it rains but the steam/humidity that comes from a hot tub means it needs to be exposed. Anyway my wife found a way of keeping dry by balancing an umbrella over the corner of the tub. Mind you it only rained 2 days out of 7 so it wasn't a big deal. My best memory of the holiday was the star-filled sky that you could see so clearly thanks to nearly zero light polution (make sure you turn all the lights off in the cabin to enjoy this + have a torch handy). Cabin very spacious and clean. Minimum supplies when you arrive so just bring everything with you or be prepared to pay a lot at the local shop. We didn't have a car for this holiday but we managed fine. We took a cab from glasgow airport and back, the rest of the time we walked everywhere. Definitely walk up the cobbler, views and scenery are great. Keep an eye out for red squirrels and lots of dear (sometimes walking past the cabin in the middle of night). We had lots of robins and other birds hoping for some of our breakfast each morning. Staff all fantastic - really caring and a good sense of humour. Wonderful underfloor heating you can control. The site did seem to have quite a few other people around. Looks like most the cabins were being used.

this holiday will give you:
-fresh air right by the loch
-lovely scenery right from your front room (not really windows, more like glass walls)
-changeable weather (lots of scotch mist and amazing clouds sweeping up and down the hills)
-peace
-a free supply of cockels and mussels when the tide goes out
-luxury in every sense of the word

tips:
bring all toiletries yourself
torch
good walking boots
rainproof clothing
trunks/bikini
all grocery shopping including condoments sugar, salt etc etc
wii games and controllers (if thats your thing)

Stayed in a Silver Birch cabin for 3 days in November 2012. I love these lodges for a quiet chill time away before Christmas. The lodges are warm and cosy with underfloor heating. The ensuite room was lovely but the wetroom takes a bit of getting used to as it makes the toilet area unusable after your shower, The twin bedroom was nice too although a bit small. The bathroom had a bath and shower and lots of shelf space. The kitchen area is large and bright and well-equipped and we had a great view of the birds in the garden area. The decor throughout is really nice with a peaceful colour theme. The hot tub was great and it had colour changing lights in it. One complaint about the decking/tub area is that it is not covered in any way and as it rained the whole weekend we were there, we had to use in the tub in the pouring rain, not very pleasant. Also, there is nowhere to hang a dry towel or leave your slippers etc due to the lack of cover. This is clearly a design fault for Scottish weather. That said, it will not stop me returning.

Thank you for taking the time to review our cabins at Argyll. We are delighted that you will be returning to our Argyll site, and our site team will look forward to welcoming you back.

We will review your comments, particularly your suggestion about there being a place to hang towels outside by the hot tub, with our development team. They are continuously looking for opportunities to improve our cabin experience, and so we really appreciate feedback like this.

Thanks once again for the review,

Kind regards

I stayed in a Golden Oak cabin along with my family over the Christmas 2011 period. Having saved up all year for our 7 night stay in Argyll Scotland for the festive period which was not cheap and we ended up leaving early. This was due early due to a mixture of bad weather conditions which caused constant power cuts and one evening we were sat frightened because the big glass windows were creaking and bowing because of the high winds, we really did think they were going to cave in...We didn't hear of or see any of the activities advertised on the website and the complimentary hamper given was a lovely gesture but consisted of items running out of date. Even after paying a premium to stay there you have to pay extra for internet connection which comes as standard in other holiday parks. The lodge itself was nice but not fully equipped with washing/drying facilities which you need whilst on an outdoor holiday. We felt really deflated after our 'holiday' as we were looking forward to it so much and personally would not return.

Thank you for your review of our Argyll holiday site. We are naturally disappointed that the adverse weather conditions (and resulting power-cuts) meant that you decided to cut your holiday short. Our site teams will make every effort to ensure that our customers are feeling comfortable in such circumstances, and we can assure all guests that the cabins are built to an extremely high standard and will withstand very severe weather conditions.

We do however understand that not all guests will chose to stay when the weather is quite so bad, and we hope you found the compensation offered because of the power cut to be fair.

We really hope that you will consider taking another Forest Holiday, and that if you do, you have much better luck with the weather,

Kind regards
