Fantastic place to stay. The cabins are set in a stunning location (so nice that my partner actually proposed to me by the side of the Loch one evening during our stay!).
The surrounding forest is wonderful to explore and we were fortunate enough to see deer and various birds of prey. If you are feeling slightly more ambitious I would also recommend climbing the Cobbler, an 800m+ mountain that offers great views over the Loch. It certainly gets the legs (and heart) working but the reward of a soak in the hot tub at the end of the day makes it all worthwhile!
If you are into angling, the loch is great for casting a line and we were fortunate enough to catch a mackerel or two!
Our cabin was very cosy, well-equipped and immaculately clean. Even on rainy days, it was lovely to just sit in front of the log burner, watch the rain hitting the windows and admire the view. Staff in the retreat were all super friendly and very knowledgable with regards to the local area.
All in all, we are two very satisfied customers and can't wait to come back for another visit. Thank you Forest Holidays :)

Thank you for such a positive review of your holiday at Argyll – and congratulations on your engagement (I hope you said yes!). It sounds as if you had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors as well as your well-deserved dips in the hot tub. I hope you will both stay with us again – we get quite a few honeymooners…

Had a lovely holiday despite bad weather in August - thank goodness for the Hot Tub! The cabins are comfortable and cosy, staff all lovely. The shop was not that well stocked and the road to the cabins needs resurfacing. Shame that the site appears to be newish in that the trees to give seclusion are not mature.
We had a great time and I would return!

Would I go again? Yes.
However that is not much of a review, so with us having previously stayed at a Forest Holiday, Forest of Dean location in a Golden Oak cabin, I thought I would draw from our previous experience and use as a comparison to write the following review.

PRO's [the same if not better than our Forest of Dean experience]

1/ Stunning view of Long Loch from the front room and hot tub [cabin #6] so please do not plant any trees and obscure this view.
2/ Efficient & super friendly staff, any issue is fixed promptly and go the extra mile.
3/ Cabin interior is super tidy, contemporary, modern tech [Wii, flat screen TV and Movies on demand for popcorn nights] and underfloor heating in every room.
4/ Walks in the surrounding area are beautiful and staff are helpful in suggesting good routes from strolls to hikes.
5/ I fully recommend the Ranger walk with Andy and his little pointer dog Ness. Learn quite a lot about the surrounding forest and animals within it and even though we didn't get to hear/see the owls, bats, otters or deer, we still fully enjoyed the experience with Ness stealing Andy's limelight.
6/ The ability to order fresh croissants, bread for every morning is a nice touch or pizza in the evening is a real bonus if that floats your boat.

CON's [in comparison to our Forest of Dean experience]

1/ If you want to BBQ/self catered and not eat out every night, the on site shop is adequate but limited for longer stays. The nearest supermarket is a far distance away so I would have preferred a larger selection of products in the onsite shop to prevent a long distant drive.
2/ The site is in need of landscaping. The cabin surroundings are a bit sparse, trees have been planted in between cabins but they will take a few years to mature. The roads around the cabins were in need of resurfacing as they had lots of mud and puddles around the parking bays.

We arrived in the rain (surprising for Scotland) however even through the wind screen wipers we could see that the site was in a stunning location. The cabin was well furnished, clean and modern, the patio area was well fenced and was appreciated by all three dogs who were able to roam freely and safely outside. Throughout our stay the staff could not have been more friendly, polite and helpful and we really felt we were getting a personal service! Whilst we ate out a few times there is a lack of really good eating places in the surrounding areas and we would advise taking provisions or buying locally sourced ingredients from The Hub and simply eating in! We went on a number of walks (which the dogs loved) and these were well marked and accurately described. My husband and daughter also enjoyed the Gorge Walking and they both described the experience as AWESOME!!!! Overall a great holiday, we are looking forward to the next one - maybe Yorkshire.....

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent Forest Holidays break at Argyll. I am pleased you (and the dogs) enjoyed your family holiday. The gorge walking in particular sounds as if it went down well. Do come and stay with us again in Yorkshire at Cropton or Keldy.

We booked our forest holiday as a pre Christmas treat, we booked a silver birch cabin and took our little dog with us aswell. Upon arrival we where greeted by a wonderful friendly team who gave us lots of info and directed us to our lodge. Once we got in our lodge we were amazed it was so clean, stylish and the added welcome touches especially the dog treat was a lovely touch. We spent a fabulous week walking through forests, enjoying the hot tub and we booked the internet and movies so in the evening we could watch a film all snuggled up. Whilst there we had some bad weather and a power cut but it made it all so much fun and the staff couldn't do enough, ensuring everyone had water and candles etc. we enjoyed our stay so much we have booked again and I have recommended it to others who have also booked. For a cosy break away this is an ideal break, the only problem you won't want to leave!!!!!

Lovely locations on shores of Loch Long, cabins well appointed and very clean. Nothing was too much trouble from staff, who were very friendly and approachable. We all enjoyed activities, including walks, canoeing, off road safari etc. On the safari we saw numerous red deer, osprey and learned loads about Scotland, farming, and the area, really recommend it.
The dusk walk was also well worth it and except for the very damp weather everyone enjoyed it.
Handy frozen food available to buy for meals in Retreat on site and bread delivered to order each day, very good.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

We have been to several Forest Holiday sites, the company and the cabins get a 5 star from me every time. This is a particularly stunning location, right on the shore of Loch Long with direct access. Two things contribute to my decision to award 4 overall rather than 4 - the cabins are much closer together than other Forest Holidays sites, and there cycle routes which leave directly from the site are too challenging for family cycling (though beautiful for walking) - we've come to expect this from other Forest Holiday sites such as Sherwood Pines and Forest of Dean. Don't let these things put you off, it's a great location to explore Argyll (particularly recommend Puck's Glen & Benmore Gardens).
