As a Family party of 6 we wanted to see parts of Scotland without the pain and worry of driving ourselves so we booked Lochs and Glens 6 day holiday at the Ardgartan Hotel. A previous tour of California and the wild west of USA on a coach was the last time on a coach 5 years ago so we knew in some ways what to expect as in time spent on a coach. On reading all the reviews for the Ardgartan Hotel we were already expecting a comfortable stay...and we have not come back disappointed. This has to be the best way to see Scotland.....yes agreed its a long journey from and back to Essex but we knew that when booking, but our driver Kevin was just brilliant and made the journey and trips out a pleasure with his great sense of humour mixed with very interesting commentary and this was appreciated by all on the Coach...you wont be disappointed!!
From the time of being welcomed on arrival then walking through the massive lounge area and having the bags in the rooms in double quick time we knew those review comments were spot on. The rooms were very nice with everything possible in place you could want and the mattress was firm and the best we have ever slept on...better than ours at home.
We had room 322 right in the middle and perfect view straight down Loch Long albeit the weather was not that kind during our stay but we can imagine what kind of view would be possible in Summer. But with snow visible on the Mountains when walking along the woodland walk below the Cobbler it was great to see. A trip to Ben Nevis was the highlight for us reaching 2000ft on Cable Car and stepping out in another world ...plenty of snow full of winter sports fantastic views.
Plenty of Wildlife and the scenery is simply breath-taking and with snow on the Glencoe, Ben Nevis and local mountains range it all makes the Holiday more enjoyable.
There is entertainment in the evening ...with a bit of fun and a daily quiz with Andy [Entertainments Manager] if you don't want that there is a Bar TV area, lounge or take a drink the comfortable lounge suites.
The Food at the Hotel was just simply first Class with plenty of choice for Breakfast and dinner we didn't have one complaint and I even tried the Haggis and Black pudding.
Special mention for all the waiting staff who all did a great job...its leaves a lasting impression and goes a long way these days.
I would like to thank all at The Ardgartan for a Memorable stay and Neil Wells [MD] you can be proud of all your staff they did a great job.
But the full marks for us go to Kevin The Driver...Thanks.
We will return to Lochs and Glens without a doubt.
Big Thank you for a great time had by all.

Room Tip: Ask for a Loch view at the time of booking...we did and that's what we got. Excellent service

just back from a short 4 night stay at ardgartan hotel. couldn't find one single fault, the setting for the hotel Is gorgeous. the food 1st class, every meal was served beautifully and by the most pleasant staff I've ever come across. although the weather wasn't great when you were sitting having a lovely breakfast early in the morning in the dining room with that great view who couldn't be happy grey skies or blue. would definitely go back.

Room Tip: if you would like the great view pick a room with even number

This was our first holiday with Lochs and Glens and my first visit to Scotland. The whole 7 day break was wonderful. The only thing lacking when we were there was snow!

The hotel reception/lounge is amazing with a glorious view of the loch and a roaring log fire.
The rooms were large and our en suite had a modern walk in shower, all kept amazingly clean by the housekeeping staff and the coffee and tea were restocked every day.

All of the staff were very friendly and always greeted you with a smile. The dining room staff were very efficient and we never had to wait too long for our food, which was excellent and always served on hot plates, even though there were four coaches staying at the hotel.

The evening entertainment provided by Andy was always good fun and got everybody involved.
There was plenty of dancing and all tastes were catered for. The drinks in the bar were very reasonably priced even though you are a captive audience.

Our trips out every day were great and our driver Lizzie and her relief driver, Steve, provided you with a running commentary on the history of the area and a few jokes thrown in.

We would recommend this holiday to everybody and we will definitely be travelling with Lochs and Glens again.

Room Tip: The even numbered rooms overlook the loch and the odd numbered rooms overlook the hills. As you ar...

Second time with Lochs & Glens, first time to this hotel. First impressions were WOW, the entrance lounge, reception was huge, and a very large picture window showed a fabulous view of the Loch.We had already been greeted on the coach and received a card showing breakfast, dinner times and room number. Cases were delivered to our room, keys already in the door. The room was also very large, warm and comfortable, en suite bathroom was also very nice, everything was extremely clean and neat.Throughout the five days at the hotel we were treated very well by all the staff, and I compliment all the staff for making the break most enjoyable. Drinks in the bar were reasonable, and entertainment which included bingo, games and dancing was also well received by the guests. We were out every day with Tony, who like the driver we had last year (Chris) has such a vast knowledge of the area, and made the outings most enjoyable. We awoke one day to find it had snowed, and the scenery outside was beautiful, such photo opportunities, this only added to a most memorable Scottish break, and we look forward to the next trip. Thanks to all concerned, and very well done to Lochs & Glens, you are doing everything right.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Loch are great, but we had a room with windows overlooking both the hills and...

Stayed at this hotel with friends. What a magical place this is. The location is spectacular.
Reception staff were outstanding. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Meals were very good. The evening entertainment with regards to quiz, bingo and competitions was hilarious.
The only downside was the singers, the hotels need to update this with someone with a bit of of get up and go. Otherwise we had a fantastic stay.

For the last 5-6 years we have treated ourselves to a winter break just prior to Christmas and often on my birthday -late November. As we have visited all of the 'Lochs and Glens' hotels before except this one, the newest of the Group and the most expensive. We thought we would treat ourselves and see what the main attractions were. At this time of year all of the hotels in the Group run a 'Christmas Themed break' where the hotels are decked out in Christmas trees with decorations and roaring open fires etc. Each day of the break represents a particular Christmas 'day' e.g. Christmas Eve;Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Added to this is a matching representative menu and a free Sherry drink on 'Christmas Eve'. Expect crackers and paper hats.

This hotel has the best location and setting of the whole Group, being set in it's own parkland with walks and set on the shore of Loch Long. A beautiful and magic place, especially early morning with the mist lying over the loch and the sun shinning above with views down the loch and on the mountain sides. We were lucky that there was sun most mornings with a light frost. The hotel is newly built and very attractively designed. All of the public rooms have terrific views looking down the loch.

On entering the hotel you are led straight into a huge high public area, where the Reception is also situated off to the left. In front of you there is a huge spectacular chandelier and huge picture windows looking down the loch. On this occasion there were 4 large decorated Christmas trees at the front of the windows. This is also the main sitting area to sit with friends chat and just chill out reading etc. The bedrooms again have been completed to a high standard. Our room had two windows looking out over the beach and down the loch towards the nearest town Arrochar about 2.5 miles away. There was a flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

The food was the same standard as all of the hotels which I think use the same menu. Nothing exciting but there was a choice of at least 4 mains. The food was adequate and the service good. I have to say the staff are always welcoming and friendly. The Restaurant manager was very helpful and efficient, in particular she went out of her way to accommodate us due to our late arrival, because of car trouble on the drive there. The star in the staff crown was the receptionist Lucy, who was tremendous and so helpful throughout our stay. I do not think you will find better staff anywhere from the cleaning staff to the various heads of department and manager, and we have traveled all over the world.

The hotel was about £70 more than the other hotels for a similar break, however, it was worth paying that little extra for the location of the hotel and the updated facilities of this purpose built hotel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If traveling by car do not use your Sat Nav after you turn off the main A83 Road 2.5 miles after pa...
